Fun times in the Old West
Friedrich Trump ran the Arctic Hotel in Bennett BC about halfway from Skagway to Carcross after the worst part of the mountain pass had been crossed.
You can catch a glimpse of it in an old photo (last one) and it does look like the best built establishment on that street. It may be that Friedrich knew how to build and that helped him make his mark. In any case, his son ended up building apartment buildings and then his grandson came back to hotels only in a BIG way.
For single men the Arctic has excellent accommodations as well as the best restaurant in Bennett, but I would not advise respectable women to go there to sleep as they are liable to hear that which would be repugnant to their feelings – and uttered, too, by the depraved of their own sex.
