Anon, I know a man who worked his whole life to get to one position - a prestigious position. He was told by his agency that he would be their next pick. He had worked 25 yrs. Then, another co-worker, who was about to have criminal charges filed against them, told a lie in regards to racism and said the first man was involved. It was a lie, but it shut this man out of the position he had worked so hard to get to, and the agency told him they knew it was a lie, but because of optics, this man would never be considered for that position again. He was devastated.
Years later, things came about that showed this man what his life would have been like if he had gotten this position and it was NOT GOOD. He knew he had been saved a great deal of pain, albeit thru someone else's lie, that lie turned out to be a blessing.
Life is not fair. We sometimes dont get what we want and life is full of heartache.
I know it's hard, but dont push it. I'm sorry for your son, but he's a grown man and must make his own choices. If he ends up not playing, you dont know from what he might be saved from down the road. Things usually work out the way they are supposed to be.
Hope you find peace. There are people in this world who would love to have your son's problem instead of their own. Not trivializing your sons problem, but it is a very first world problem in light of what some people are dealing with right now.
