the plastic can liners are NOT BPA based, they contain a tiny fraction of a percent of BPA, and it's purpose is to render the plastic more amenable to the manufacturing process at a minimum cost. the driving factor was profit. or call it greed. if a cheaper and more readily available alternative to BPA existed, they would have used that, irrespective of whether or not it was an estrogen mimic.
