The subject of elected lawman (person) is near and dear to anon’s heart. It IS a beautiful thing that fundamentally, locals should pick and choose locally how and thus who they want, periodically, ‘keeping the peace’.

Sometimes, the people drift from philosophical underpinnings helping to induce harmony in a region… such as the ideals described in The Constitution. Drifting far from such, much turmoil can befall a community. Darkness and fog drifts across the land. Maybe a lone rider comes along and burns the whole place down. (High Planes Drifter… even John Wayne had a hard time getting his head around that one).

The better way, and i think MOST people who gravitate toward Law Enforcement and UP toward ‘running’ for sheriff… ‘get’ that they must at least put on, and/or strive, toward what nuts and bolts are necessary to retain Office…

The better way, is actually encouraging and re-‘enforcing’ those things that simply Shepard a community towards doing many such things for Themselves. Eventually, a good sheriff, need hardly ever have need for a gun at all.

Because of rotten elections… ever bigger guns become an ever bigger tool of sheriffs who never really earned, nor deserve to hold, the office in the first place.

We’re in a tough spot.

The Second Amendment becomes INDISPENSABLE for times when the First is being demonically stolen by “The Law” itself.
