A Corvette can get as good of mileage as a Prius. Cars like the early Civics were pushing 50mpg. Dodge trucks with 12 valve Cummins engine were pushing 30mpg.
With the right gearing and minus all the smog/safety shit, vehicles could easily get twice the mileage they do today. It’s the regulations that hep to rape you.
