Back after 911 around 2002 or so the lady I went to for haircuts was a Afghani refugee. She said she chose cutting hair because out of all the options that had the shortest training length of time, so she could start earning money and become independent ASAP. She was a hard worker and very nice person. I tried asking a little about her situation but she said she didn't want to talk too much in front of her coworkers. I got the impression she wasn't liked too much by them. Just saying. Sometimes a refugee is just a refugee. We'll see what happens, as someone famously once said.

Agree. She was exceptional. I moved away eventually. During the 4-5 years she was my barber she won various awards, had the framed certificates on the wall around her work station. She was hot, too, and married.
