Yep, there is plenty of lithium and RARE Earth minerals in the US

 

both in the ground and in all the old cell phones and electronics

same goes for Rare Earth elements

 

The solution is to INNOVATE, become self sufficient, and stop giving away valuable recoverable scrap to fill empty Chinese cargo ships heading back to China.
