Dominican Republic reopens ports in the north of the country after the passage of tropical storm
The Dominican Port Authority (Apordom) ordered the resumption of maneuvering operations for the entry and exit of vessels as of midday in the ports of Santa Barbara and Arroyo Barril in Samana; Puerto Plata, Amber Cove, Luperon and Manzanillo, in view of the degradation of tropical storm Grace.
The information was announced by the executive director of Apordom, Jean Luis Rodriguez, after a meeting with the Emergency Committee of the Port Authority at the Control Center and the Director of the Specialized Port Security Corps, Captain Franklin Odalis Frias Duarte.
The institution indicated that following the recommendations of the Emergency Operations Center (COE), the reopening of maneuvering operations for the entry and exit of ships was ordered as of midday in the ports of Santa Barbará and Arroyo Barril in Samaná; Puerto Plata, Amber Cove, Luperón and Manzanillo.
While the closure of maneuvering operations for entry and exit of ships in the ports of La Romana, La Cana, San Pedro de Macoris, Boca Chica, DP World Caucedo, Aes Andres, Barahona, Azua, Cabo Rojo, Santo Domingo and Haina is maintained, due to the accumulated rainfall that is still expected.
The governing institution of the Dominican port system, also informed that the reopening of maneuvering operations for the entry and exit of ships was ordered as of noon in the ports of Santa Barbara and Arroyo Barril in Samana; Puerto Plata, Amber Cove, Luperon and Manzanillo.
