Cried today a little anon, i thanked a man for his service.
He stopped, obviously taken aback and, after a slight pause, replied, in a voice as tainted by emotion as an Australian man ever gets,
' Thankyou'

Fuck we've treated them horribly anon, not for the first time, i felt anger, anger that those men and women are so used to scolding and derision that a simple acknowledgement of their service shocks & surprises them, anger that someone like me, considered unworthy of our 'nice' society can manage a simple bloody thank you, yet our 'highly' esteemed cant manage a promised welfare and support.
i'll stop now, anyway. An important day for our Vietnam Vets.
