The daughter of exiled Afghan president Ashraf Ghani is living a luxurious lifestyle in New York City, while her father has been given asylum in Dubai on 'humanitarian grounds' after fleeing Afghanistan in a helicopter filled with $169million in cash.

Mariam Ghani, 42, lives in a loft in a luxury co-op in Brooklyn's Clinton Hill neighborhood, the New York Post reported.

The visual artist and filmmaker, who was born and raised in America, is said to practice a bohemian lifestyle much different than that of women in Afghanistan.

When interviewed in 2015, the New York Times described her loft as a 'map to her layered identity,' featuring floor-to-ceiling shelves filled with books, embroidered pillows made by a collective in Aleppo, Syria, and a Turkmenistan rug gifted to her by her father. Her refrigerator was decorated with magnets touting motivational sayings and her kitchen shelves lined with green tomatoes she pickled herself.

'I'm a Brooklyn cliché,' she said at the time, commenting on her way of living.

Ghani, who has refused to speak with reporters about the ongoing takeover of Afghanistan, is encouraging Americans to advocate for the Afghans whose lives have and continue to be impacted by the Taliban's insurgence in the country.

She posted on social media Tuesday answering the question: 'What can we do to help Afghans right now?'

Ghani, who says she is 'angry, grieving and terribly afraid for [her] family, friends and colleagues left behind in Afghanistan,' encourages US citizens to contact their elected officials asking to halt deportations of Afghan refugees and expedite Special Immigrant Visas.

'To everyone who has checked in and reached out in solidarity over the past days: thank you. It has meant a lot,' she wrote, noting that she is 'working feverishly to do anything [she] can on their behalf'.

She says that, in addition to contacting elected officials, individuals can donate to or volunteer with several organizations who help refugees and displaced people.

Here’s all the US military equipment that likely ended up in Taliban hands

A windfall for the Taliban.

The Biden administration admitted on Tuesday that the Taliban had captured a significant amount of U.S. military equipment originally supplied to Afghan security forces during the militants’ blitzkrieg on Kabul in recent weeks — and the U.S. doesn’t know exactly how much American gear they’ve lost to terrorist hands.

“We don’t have a complete picture, obviously, of where every article of defense materials has gone but certainly, a fair amount of it has fallen into the hands of the Taliban,” White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said during a press conference. “​​Obviously, we don’t have a sense that they are going to readily hand it over to us at the airport.”

Indeed, photos published by newswires like the Associated Press and circulated on social media by eyewitnesses to the Taliban sweep of Kabul show militant fighters touting M4 and M16 rifles, M24 sniper rifle systems, and M2 .50 caliber machine guns. Other footage showed night vision goggles, radios, and magazine pouches apparently seized from Afghan outposts during the Taliban offensive, which also saw militants seize military vehicles like Humvees and MRAPs.

While Sullivan did not specify what a “fair amount” of defense materials entailed, he had previously blamed the members of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) for laying down their arms before the Taliban onslaught, stating that the U.S.’s $86 billion in funding over the last two decades “could not give them the will and ultimately they decided that they would not fight for Kabul.”

At the moment, there’s still a lot that senior U.S. officials don’t know about American weapons falling into the hands of the Taliban. But based on past reporting from U.S. government watchdogs, the militant group may have inherited a broad arsenal of American weapons from the hands of fleeing Afghan security forces.

According to a 2017 Government Accountability Office report, the U.S. military transferred roughly 75,898 vehicles, 599,690 weapons systems, and 208 aircraft to the ANDSF between fiscal years 2003 and 2016. And according to a recent Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction analysis, the last few years have seen the Defense Department send the ANDSF more than 7,000 machine guns, more than 4,700 Humvees, and more than 20,000 grenades. This is to say nothing of the communications, explosive ordnance disposal, and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) equipment transferred to the ANDSF over the course of two decades as detailed in the GAO report. According to the Intercept, the Taliban have even seized U.S. military biometrics devices “that could aid in the identification of Afghans who assisted coalition forces.”

“Plaintiffs appear to be merely throwing arguments up against the wall with the hope that they can formulate some basis for canceling their mortgage loan without full repayment,” wrote attorney Douglas Stastny of the Severson & Werson’s Orange County Office in a motion to dismiss the case.

The sale would not interrupt or impact Materson’s $3.3 million bond arrangement, which is keeping him out of jail as he awaits a November trial that could result in up to 45 years in prison, The Post learned.

Illinois To Partner With Experian For Vaccine Passport System, Data Will Be Available To NSA And DHS

Experian suffered a major data breach in 2015, and lobbied for immunity to share private consumer data with the NSA, DHS, and other law enforcement agencies

The Illinois Department of Public Health is launching a program called “Vax Verify” that asks residents to verify and download a receipt of their vaccination status, noting that “More and more companies, such as United, Google, Netflix, Morgan Stanley, Saks Fifth Avenue, Ascension Health, and Lyft, are instituting vaccine requirements for at least some of their employees.”

Vax Verify will be contracting with consumer credit reporting company Experian, which will use an “identity verification process to gain access to their immunization history.” Experian has lobbied to share consumer data with the NSA, DHS, and other law enforcement agencies.

“As more businesses, events, organizations, and others require proof of vaccination, Illinois residents will be able to confirm using Vax Verify that they have been vaccinated for COVID-19,” IDPH Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike said in a statement on the IDPH website. “With the current surge in cases, more people are making the decision to get a COVID-19 vaccine and this new tool will aid residents in confirming their vaccination where needed.”

After completing registrations, individuals can re-freeze their credit by contacting Experian®.”

Experian was the subject of a massive security breach in 2015 that resulted in the personal information of some 15 million people being exposed online. The Guardian reported at that time that “Experian has lobbied in support of the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act, legislation currently being considered in the Senate that would broaden its immunity were it to share its stores of information with the Department of Homeland Security (which in turn would be compelled to share it with law enforcement and the NSA).”

President Barack Obama signed the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act into law in December 2015.

Nowadays, unless you live in China where Falun Gong practitioners – who were once supported by the state until they gained too much influence – are still victims of false imprisonment, torture and live organ harvesting, or in a strict middle-eastern country where you might be hung for expressing alternative spiritual beliefs, it’s somewhat safer to be on the fringe of religious belief.

Free from the fear of impending death, one might think that we have much more spiritual freedom. Unfortunately however in the Western world, physical abuse has been substituted for fear inducing propaganda, and we have long been studied as a humanity to discover the most effective psychological triggers with which we can be controlled. Rather than physically stopping people from practising spirituality, these techniques insidiously influence social attitudes so that people avoid exploring alternative spirituality to begin with.

For a greater understanding of modern day manipulation, let’s step back in time to the early 20th century and the birth of propaganda and social engineering.

Fear responses can be conditioned

The fight-or-flight response is one of the most basic instinctual mechanisms we are born with. Fear has an impressive history of helping us to avoid harmful situations, and as we listened to it and survived by running from predators, these instincts were probably reinforced through generations as those who survived through fear brought their children up to survive in the same way.

But fear can also be used as a mechanism to control us and scientists have long been fascinated by fear reactions, conducting many studies trying to understand how fear becomes conditioned. The greatest developments in this field have been in the realm of ‘Behaviourism’; the theory that animal and human behaviour can be explained through conditioning.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said during a Wednesday press conference that the U.S. does not have the ability to evacuate a large number of people from Afghanistan.

“We don’t have the capability to go out and collect large numbers of people,” Austin told a reporter.

Austin said earlier in the press conference that the U.S. was nowhere close to where they wanted to be in terms of evacuations from Afghanistan.

“As I stated earlier, we’re gonna push more military assistance down to the entry points to facilitate these efforts, but we’re really working hard to get as many people through as possible,” he said. “And, quite frankly, it’s obvious we’re not close to where we want to be in terms of getting the numbers through.”

He promised that the U.S. would work around the clock to “get everyone that we can possibly evacuate, evacuated.”

“And I’ll do that as long as we possibly can until the clock runs out, or we run out of capability,” Austin said.

The Taliban managed to take control of the country just days after President Joe Biden ordered American troops to withdraw. Chaos ensued at the Kabul airport as crowds of people desperate to escape the Taliban chased planes down the tarmac, some even going so far as to cling to the side of American planes and fall to their deaths.

The move represents a significant escalation in Biden’s campaign to get Americans vaccinated and the tools he is willing to use, marking the first time he has threatened to withhold federal funds in order to get people vaccinated.

Nursing home residents, largely the elderly with pre-existing medical conditions, were among the hardest hit in the early stages of the pandemic. Such facilities being largely confined space without enhanced ventilation contributed to high case rates. The virus's highly contagious delta variant threatens to create a similar situation with high hospitalization and death rates.

"As we see the spread of Delta and the threat of Covid cases, it is really especially important that we ensure that those caring for our most vulnerable are vaccinated,” Carole Johnson, a senior official on the White House’s Covid-19 response team, told CNN in an interview.

In the seven states in which less than half of nursing home staff is vaccinated, weekly cases were 7.9 times higher in the week ending August 1 than they were in the week ending June 27. Meanwhile, in states that have vaccinated a larger share of staff than average, cases reported in the week ending August 1 were three times higher than cases reported in the last week of June, the new outlet also reports.

The new regulations could go into effect as early as next month. However, Johnson told CNN the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will work with nursing homes, employees and their unions to ramp up staff vaccinations before the regulations go into effect.
