As horrific images reminiscent of Saigon 1975 continue in Afghanistan, Vice President Kamala Harris has been missing in action.

Earlier this year, she often stood awkwardly behind President Joe Biden for speeches, but not Monday during his defiant diatribe. When the White House released the now-infamous Sunday photo of Biden sitting alone at Camp David, Harris was only among the president’s on-screen virtual advisors.

It’s likely that the historically unpopular vice president hopes to (selfishly) distance herself from the catastrophic withdrawal, of which even friendly media has been critical, while more partisan voices call for impeachment.

“Harris, who ran aggressively against Biden for the Democratic Party’s 2020 nomination, has been eager as vice president to be seen as loyal, while at the same time sharing in the administration’s successes to pave the way for another potential run at the top job,” a lengthy Los Angeles Times analysis noted this week.

Four months ago, however, after the president ordered our ignominious surrender abroad, she boasted of being the last person in the room before Biden made his fatal decision.

“I carry a great, great sense of responsibility, if not the seriousness of the responsibility, to be in this position and be a voice for those who have not traditionally been in the room,” Harris told CNN, while playing racial and gender games.

As a new senator in 2017, the radical Californian voted for a failed effort to rescind the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force passed in the aftermath of the September 11 terror attacks.

Harris, who’s been declining interview requests from major news outlets all week, leaves Friday for a major junket. It won’t be to Europe, but rather Singapore and Vietnam. This is her second international sojourn as vice president, following a disastrous visit to Guatemala and Mexico City in June.

“The prospect of Harris visiting Vietnam at this particular moment raised the possibility of the worst photo op for an American in that country since Jane Fonda donned a helmet there in 1972,” Fox News reported.

Others have since piled on the cruel symbolism.

“The VEEP writers could not have scripted this better,” former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer tweeted Wednesday.

Harris finally ended her public silence Thursday with a short message to the “National Association of Black Journalists” virtual convention.

Sen. Marsha Blackburn says the president 'needs to fire his national security team'

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) says that President Joe Biden needs to terminate his national security team, beginning with national security adviser Jake Sullivan.

"Joe Biden needs to fire his national security team, starting with Jake Sullivan," Blackburn declared in a Thursday tweet.

Blackburn's call for a mass firing comes as the Biden administration faces heavy criticism over issues related to efforts to withdraw U.S. forces from Afghanistan. The Taliban has swiftly taken over the country, seizing the capital city of Kabul on Sunday, but the U.S. is currently scrambling to evacuate its citizens and others from Afghanistan.

"Maybe Joe should lead by example and start with himself first," a tweet declared in response to Blackburn's comment.

"He should fire his entire administration including himself. He is a disaster!" another tweet said in response to Blackburn's post.

"Biden needs to step down as president," another tweet said.

But while some targeted Biden, other Twitter users targeted Blackburn.

"Tennessee needs to fire you," one tweet declared.

"You need to be voted out of office," another tweet proclaimed.

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) said in a tweet Wednesday that President Biden's defense and foreign policy team needs to resign.

"This is the worst foreign policy debacle since Vietnam, due to Joe Biden. He has lost the confidence of the American people and the ability to lead. Biden's entire defense and foreign policy team must resign, and there must be a full congressional inquiry," Hawley tweeted.

"In the immediate term, we must focus on getting Americans trapped in Afghanistan out safely. That should be our top priority," another tweet declared.

Brett Bruen, who previously served as director of global engagement at the Obama White House, recently contended in an opinion piece that the president needs to fire Sullivan and others.

"President Biden needs to fire his national security adviser and several other senior leaders who oversaw the botched execution of our withdrawal from Afghanistan. He has to restructure how and with whom he is making major foreign policy decisions, allowing for more input from career experts," Bruen wrote.

New Jeopardy Host Mike Richards Apologizes For Sexist, Racist Comments

Newly named “Jeopardy!” host Mike Richards is under fire for resurfaced comments he made that some critics are calling sexist and racist.

Pop culture outlet The Ringer first reported Thursday that between 2013 and 2014, as the host of the podcast “Randumb,” Richards referred to his female cohost as a “booth ho,” “boothstitute” and “booth slut” and said women in one-piece bathing suits look “really frumpy and overweight.”In other episodes, Richards made disparaging racial remarks.

Referring to Jewish people, he said of a woman’s facial features, “Ixnay on the ose-nay. She’s not an ew-Jay.” In a separate incident, when his co-host described issues she was having with her apartment, he asked if she lived in Haiti, adding, “Doesn’t it sound like that? Like, the urine smell, the woman in the muumuu, the stray cats.”

Hours after Ringer reporters’ asked Richards’ representatives about his podcast comments, all 41 episodes disappeared from hosting site mrichtv.podbean.com.Richards then issued this statement to the outlets:

It is humbling to confront a terribly embarrassing moment of misjudgment, thoughtlessness, and insensitivity from nearly a decade ago. Looking back now, there is no excuse, of course, for the comments I made on this podcast and I am deeply sorry. The podcast was intended to be a series of irreverent conversations between longtime friends who had a history of joking around.

Even with the passage of time, it’s more than clear that my attempts to be funny and provocative were not acceptable, and I have removed the episodes. Sony, the company that produces “Jeopardy!,” told The Hollywood Reporter they were “unaware of the podcast until yesterday and [have] no further comment at this time.”

Richards has quickly become a controversial figure since he was named last week as Alex Trebek’s permanent replacement. Along with his employer CBS, he was named in a 2010 lawsuit from a model who claimed that during his time as executive producer on “The Price is Right” he discriminated against her over her pregnancy.

As reported by THR, Richards’ denied the accusation in a memo to “Jeopardy’s” staff, saying “These were allegations made in employment disputes against the show. I want you all to know that the way in which my comments and actions have been characterized in these complaints does not reflect the reality of who I am or how we worked together on “The Price is Right.” He added, “I know firsthand how special it is to be a parent. It is the most important thing in the world to me. I would not say anything to disrespect anyone’s pregnancy and have always supported my colleagues on their parenting journeys.”

Twitter on Tuesday announced that it's preparing to test a new feature that will allow users to report any COVID misinformation they spot on the platform. Users can already flag content they deem inappropriate (including misinformation). This new feature will allow them to specify the type of misinformation (is it political, perhaps COVID related?). All of this information will help twitter's algorithms justify its removal from the platform more expeditiously, saving more readers from being exposed to harmful information that might lead them to question the official narrative.

According to the Verge, which got the scoop from Twitter, the new feature will be available starting Tuesday for most users in the US, Australia, and South Korea. Twitter said it expects to test-run it for a few months before deciding to roll it out to "additional markets."

Australia's 'Effective' Unemployment Rate Surges As Frustrated Jobseekers Abandon Labor Market

With most of the country on lockdown, Australia's labor market is reeling from its government's attempts to achieve "ZeroCOVID": with no end in sight (investment banks generally expect the lockdowns to lift next month, but views vary), it appears thousands of Aussies are giving up on looking for work, a phenomenon that has also been seen in the US.

If the trend continues, Australia may be on its way to an employment crunch, particularly in low-paying public facing jobs in retail and food service, on par with what the US economy has been grappling with all summer.

The latest round of Aussie unemployment data, released overnight, showed the unemployment rate dropped from 4.9% to 4.6%, but the decline was almost entirely driven by Aussie's dropping out of the workforce. The country's participation rate dropped by 0.2 percentage points to 66%, according to the labor market data, which was collected in early-to-mid July by Australia's Bureau of Statistics.

New South Wales, the country's most populous state and home to Sydney, the locus of the current outbreak, saw its labor force reduced by about 64K people between the newly unemployed (-36K) and unemployed who have given up on their search for work (-27K). Hours worked in Sydney, which has been under lockdown for 2 months now, fell by 7%.

One economist estimated that the "effective" unemployment rate is closer to 6%.

UK‘s medicine regulator receives funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation that pushes vaccines and depopulation

The UK’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, or MHRA, is meant to be a neutral body that is responsible for making sure that the medicine and medical devices used in the country are acceptably safe.

However, there are serious questions about the agency’s impartiality because they receive significant funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in what can only be considered a major conflict of interest. The foundation holds major shares in COVID-19 vaccine developers Pfizer and BioNTech.

Perhaps this explains why the Pfizer and BioNTech vaccine was the first one to be authorized for use in children aged 12 and over back in June and remained the only one available to this age group until Moderna’s vaccine was approved this week.

The approval of Pfizer’s vaccine was particularly shocking when you consider that 86 percent of children who participated in the very short and small clinical study used to make the decision suffered from an adverse reaction.

In a Freedom of Information request posted on the website of the MHRA, a representative of the agency admitted that they do receive funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation that mainly supports work on strengthening the regulatory systems in other countries. They added that most of their income comes from fees paid by the pharmaceutical industry.

The agency stated that the current level of grant funding that they receive from the foundation is roughly $3 million, which they say is spread across several projects and three to four financial years.

They added that they would not approve any COVID-19 vaccines until they demonstrate “safety, quality and efficacy through a robust clinical trial programme, as determined by the MHRA, and unless the evidence supports its use.” However, they go on to add that they carefully reviewed the clinical trial data for Pfizer’s vaccine in a study of just 2000 children. They said that the safety data in children was on par with that seen in young adults, which is hardly comforting.

They added that the immunogenicity results, which show how well a vaccine functions, showed that children aged 12 to 15 had similar neutralizing antibody levels to those aged 16 to 25, but they only studied 200 children to reach this conclusion.

Why would any legitimate government agency want to be associated with the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation?

In 2017, the MHRA announced a partnership worth more than £980,000 with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the World Health Organization aimed at improving safety monitoring of medicine in low and middle-income countries. Two years later, they announced a partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to research “medicine use which could impact the health of pregnant women around the world.”
