The idea… is that people were told over and over and over again… that there was something in the air (unproven to exist at all)… and people everywhere BELIEVING they may have been exposed and then developed, or assumed some real dis-ease, was an illnesses they thought was caused by what they were TOLD made them sick.
Placebo effect is related to something one can see or taste or feel, even if it is benign, but BELIEVE it has a positive effect.
