The feet are said in Scripture to denote the Gospel with which the messengers are shod.
Since this covering of the eyes and feet was in Ezekiel,
the Old Testament,
this shows the Author of the Message,
promised from the foundation of the earth,
had not yet come with the fully revealed Gospel.
