not saying that the opiod epidemic isn't insidious… and possibly purposely directed to take out rural whites

but

i have a predilection to addiction… or at least to obsessive repetition for things i like…. cigarettes for example

i got prescribed oxy's for my shoulder surgery… and i like being high. i took several everyday for over at least two months… but i knew that at some point i would have to stop. so on a thursday, knowing i only had 2 left, i didn't call my doc for a refill… and went through the withdrawl all weekend. don't get me wrong, it sucked really fucking bad… but within 4 or 5 days i was fine.

as someone who has a tendency to get addicted to things…. that still got through the withdrawl without much difficulty…. i'd have to say the people that exhibit long term struggles with it are likely the same people that would ruin their lives with other drugs if the opiods weren't available, whether it be with alcohol or other drugs. point being…. there is danger placing too much blame on the drug, because that is an escape/excuse for the people that are currently addicted, and it gives them less of a chance to quit. kind of like how we're constantly told how addictive cigarettes are…. when truthfully they aren't all that addictive. the addiction is largely psychological and is bolstered by people being told that the product is so addictive that it isn't their fault when they don't quit…. when in reality, its really because they don't want to.
