I was talking about EMF in my area, whatever satellites would emit are miniscule compared to a cell phone pressed against your head.
Wendy Myers doesn't seem to be a physicist, and doesn't understand the distance squared law. I don't care how many satellites are emitting EMF, or how powerful they are (which isn't much), a satellite emitting EMF in the 5-6 Ghz range will have one ten millionth (at most) the radiation at ground level as a cell tower.
I think SAM060 turned off their transponder, but is still in formation with SAM057 (changed callsign to MC57). That happened last night also, during the flight from Andrews to Elmendorf.
As for fighter escorts, and the supporting tanker, I'd imagine they keep their transponders off for security reasons.
