When I was a kid, back in the 1960s, we had a milkman who delivered milk to everyone in the neighborhood's houses. I was one of 5 kids. If we didn't drink all of the milk by the time them milkman delivered milk again, my mom would make cooked pudding out of the old milk to use it up. Or she would make hot cocoa out of it. My parents grew up in the Depression and were very frugal.
