What dosage are you taking? Best to take lower dose several times a day. For example Zinc Balance by Jarrow, 15mg, 2x/day

You would have to take an extreme amount to overdose on zinc.Your body does not store extra zinc, it excretes it. Beware of fake news health sites run by big pharma. They have many hit pieces on Vitamin D as well to scare people out of taking it. These people are sick.

Anon has a nutrition textbook, here's an excerpt on Zinc:

The functions of zinc fall into three categories: catalytic, structural, and regulatory. Zinc is a cofactor for nearly 100 enzymes, representing all the major enzyme types. In its structural role, zinc helps fold proteins into functional shapes. As a regulator, zinc helps control many diverse functions, including gene expression, cell death, and nerve transmission.

Zinc is vital to a vigorous immune response and is essential to the proper development and maintenance of the immune system. Without zinc, your body could not fight off invading viruses, bacteria, and fungi. Even mild deficiency may increase the risk of infection.

Phytate from whole grains is the main dietary factor that inhibits zinc absorption. For vegetarians whose diet consists of mainly phytate-rich unrefined grains and legumes, zinc requirements may exceed the RDAs. Although calcium supplements may interfere in the absorption of zinc, dietary calcium does not appear to reduce zinc absorption. Non-heme iron in the form of iron supplements also depresses zinc absorption. Iron from food, whether heme iron (from meat) or non-heme iron, does not have the same effect.

Excretion: During digestion, the pancreas secretes a considerable amount of zinc in pancreatic juice. When needed, intestinal cells reabsorb most of this zinc. Otherwise, it is lost in feces, along with unabsorbed dietary zinc. Zinc is also lost from sloughed-off intestinal cells, skin, and hair; and minor amounts are excreted in urine, sweat, and other fluids.
