What transpired on Jan. 6 was not an isolated incident, but rather the culmination of a sustained assault on our system of government led by the former occupant of the White House and all those who have enabled him. The thugs who stormed the Capitol did not act alone – complicit are elected officials, lawyers, and all those who have tried to overturn a free and obviously fair election. The individuals who took part in this insurrection are a dangerous mob. There must be accountability — consequences — for their actions or the danger to the nation that they pose will remain.
