What makes you think that? I am not implying that I never act in a way I recognize is wrong. But it feels like, to me, 'regretting' is distinct from 'feeling sorry'.
The way I interpret it, regret is a cheap emotional shortcut for letting your conscience of the hook for what you have done.
I would appreciate it if you were to weigh in more.
