The ultimate distinction between the flu and a cold is severity, because they don't normally test for the flu.

Generally only about 1.3 million/year, of which about 8% test positive (110k or so). The flu # is

quite literally assumed. Nobody really knows. It could be that almost every "cold" is really just some

coronavirus that hasn't been typed yet. Nobody knows.

My last serious illness (flu-like) was in 2005, right after I came back from a trip to Vegas. In fact, most

of my moderate illnesses are immediately after trips somewhere I don't visit frequently. Then you

become immune to whatever it was you were exposed toโ€ฆ virus, bacteria, bacteriophage, whatever.
