My dad was on keto diet for a few years, and lost like 25 pounds. He came off of it during the lockdown last year(allegedly because he couldn't find good produce anywhere, which is bullshit imo kek) so he ate a bunch of 'junk', and tacked all that back on.

 

Dad goes to the doctors a few months ago, and they're like holy fuck your triglycerides are over 800 and your A1C is 8.2. Dad doesn't want to go on insulin so he is all "I'm basically forced to go back to keto and stay there"

 

 

My thing is this though, the entire point of keto is to enter ketosis and burn fat rather than sugar….but ketones lower your hormone insulin….so how the fuck does that not increase your risk for diabetes?

 

He was like "nah it doesn't work like that"

 

 

It does though, and his blood sugar levels after 1 year off keto are evidence imo.
