Not just Japan, but Australia and CONUS have a lot more activity than normal. There is a KC135 showing there just over Wake island whose trail goes back to the middle of the South China Sea, no doubt supporting the carrier group we have in the region.
There has been an increased tempo for the last 6 months among all the tiny Pacific islands too. Palau, Marshals, Wake, Kwajelein. I would have expected a huge tempo increase at Guam, but that has not been the case.
