The press is shocked ! Bolsonaro for the people

Brasilia, Aug 27 (Prensa Latina) Without considering the consequences, President Jair Bolsonaro on Friday encouraged everyone in Brazil to buy a rifle, in a meeting with supporters outside the Alvorada Palace, the official residence.

According to the former soldier, prone to arming the population to the teeth, those who reject this measure should stop bothering those who buy guns.

As a nod to his weapons policy, Bolsonaro on Thursday also defended the carrying and possession of military devices for his fellow countrymen.

The former soldier mocked press reports that indicate that the number of purchases of war devices doubles year after year.

He said that today the countryman is calmer. We took the money from the NGOs (non-governmental organizations), we managed via decree to give the 762 rifle to you…. Today you can ride a horse or take your jeep (vehicle) and ride around the farm all armed.

He added that while the bandits were armed with automatic rifles in Rio de Janeiro, the press did not say anything…, it was great. He complained that now, when good citizens buy guns, people criticize.

In February, Bolsonaro amended four federal decrees with the aim of reducing bureaucracy and expanding access to firearms and ammunition.

Once they have applied, Afghans will be contacted by email to let them know they are in a U.S. government system and will then have to make their own way out of Afghanistan to a third country, where they will wait 12 to 14 months for their application to be processed, officials said.

"We recognize that… it is extremely difficult for Afghans to obtain a visa to a third country or in some cases to find a way to enter a third country," said State Department spokesman Ned Price said.

Islamabad — Pakistani border forces on Friday fired at a group of Afghans who tried to storm their way into the country, killing three people and wounding a couple others, officials said.

The incident occurred at the Torkham border crossing that links the north-western Pakistani region of Khyber with Nangarhar in Afghanistan, at least two officials confirmed to dpa.

Thousands of Afghans fleeing Taliban rule have gathered at the border, hoping to cross into Pakistan.

https://thehill.com/policy/defense/569722-pentagon-announces-three-more-military-bases-to-house-afghans-in-us

The Pentagon has added three more U.S. military bases to the list of installations that will help temporarily house Afghan evacuees who make it stateside, press secretary John Kirby confirmed Friday.

“Today the Department of Defense can announce that it has authorized Marine Corps Base Quantico, Va.; Fort Pickett, Va.; and Holloman Air Force Base, N.M., to provide additional support to the U.S. mission to evacuate Afghans special immigrant visa applicants, their families, and other at-risk individuals,” Kirby told reporters at the Pentagon.

Kirby said the three new bases join Fort Lee, Va.; Fort McCoy, Wis.; Fort Bliss, Texas and Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J. in providing support. Combined, the seven installations have the capacity for up to 50,000 Afghans and their families.

U.S. Northern Command will coordinate the accommodation details with the State Department, the Department Homeland Security and the Department of Health and Human Services, Kirby added.
