The domain name server (DNS) is "the man in the middle".
Computer A requests image retrieval from DNS. DNS routes the request to image server. When the DNS record/table gets poisoned, the request cannot be routed to the image server. By updating your hosts file, you are telling your computer exactly where to get the files from, instead of having to rely on the DNS for routing.
If you want the images, update the hostfile. If you don't want them, do nothing. Now ask yourself, why would access to the images be limited?
A. (They) don't want us sharing memes.
B. "Immoral" images posted here destroy the credibility of any truths available to new eyes, and expose recipients to liability.
Their justice system is corrupt, excusing the behavior of those "connected" while using "evidence" against truth-seekers; so the 'truth' about the 'immorality' of images only works one way.
Immoral = in conflict with the "approved" legal/medical narrative
