Its not likely that these CME's are going to be a major CMP hit, however, the fact that there are two coming (both M class) might cause a few a few glitches at higher latitudes. As he indicated, its going to be interesting to watch the effect, especially with our weakening magnetic field.
His "thin blue line" comment was related to galactic magnetic fields of solar systems.
Note: I'm not an astrophysicist…but I have picked up a lot from him over the last year or so :)
Also notable is his last few interactions with the Climate Change working group at NASA. He has pounded them multiple times on how their papers are not considering numerous other peer reviewed publications/studies.
