The self-absorbed who surround anon can't relate to caring about people who are states away. The worse (in our lifetimes) experienced in this region was Hurricane Sandy. That wasn't enough to melt the cold-hearted who only care about buying their 50th pair of shoes for the year, either, as it didn't directly affect their stuff.
