Scottsdale Unified School Board President Greenburg Caught In “Mask-For-Thee-Not-For-Me” Moment
Another Arizona education leader, Scottsdale Unified School District’s Governing Board president Jann-Michael Greenburg, has been caught in a masks “for-thee-not me” moment. Greenburg was caught on video by a parent in a Tempe bar and grill Saturday night without a mask.
Just last week, Arizona Superintendent of Public Education Kathy Hoffman, who shares Greenburg’s staunch position on mask mandates for children was captured maskless at a baby shower.
Controversy has haunted Greenburg since school leadership announced its decision to mandate masks at the beginning of the school year.
Last Thursday, after a parent questioned the district’s claims that parents largely support the mandate, Greenburg lost his cool and said “Jesus f——- Christ” into a hot mic as the parent walked away.
Beginning September 29, a new law will take effect that prohibits mask mandates, until then parents and their kids are subjected to the whims of school boards like Greenburg.
When asked in an email:
“What sort of message does it send to constituents who see their elected officials going maskless? Why is it safe to go maskless in a bar for an extended period of time, but unsafe for young healthy children to go maskless in a classroom?
Greenburg gave a response similar to one made by Dr. Anthony Fauci when he said an attack o on him was an attack on science, only in Greenburg’s case an attack on him is an attack on public education:
“This video is another baseless attack by people whose agenda is to destroy public education and discourage people from serving. It won’t work.”
“Why would any parent who has their children currently in public education be trying to destroy it? We want governing board members and administrative leaders of integrity who are striving to strengthen public education so that our community schools can be a competitive academic option,” said mother of 6, Amy Carney.
“I currently have two children in SUSD, so it is important to me to have leaders who strive to strengthen public education so that our community schools are a place where all children can receive an excellent academic and social experience,” continued Carney. “Our governing board president has unfortunately made some recent poor choices showing the quality of his character. His cursing into a hot mic during public comments and getting caught on video not wearing a mask in a crowded bar while the kids and teachers in the district where he serves are under a mask mandate show his lack of maturity.”
The District just can’t see to stay out of an unfavorable spotlight when it comes to masks. AZ FREE News reported on a controversial quiz by a teacher at Cocopah Middle School:
A mother recently discovered that her sixth grader’s teacher slipped a politicized jab at Governor Doug Ducey’s opposition to school mask mandates into a homework assignment. Cocopah Middle School Language Arts teacher Susan Mulhern included a question asking students to check the grammar of a sentence asking when Ducey would impose K-12 mask mandates statewide. The question is reproduced below:
“What THREE rules would correct the following two sentences’ errors: ‘When will governor Ducey mandate the use of masks in schools?’ inquired william. I think it is time to begin that at cherokee elementary school.”
“[The statement] doesn’t reflect all of the beliefs of the students or their families. It’s no place for politics or personal opinion, and it creates divisiveness,” observed Lawson.
Currently, Greenburg and two of his Board colleagues are the subject of recall efforts.

Report: Taliban Offered Biden Control of Kabul, but He Declined
The chaos in Afghanistan could have reportedly been avoided altogether if President Joe Biden had accepted the Taliban’s initial offer for the U.S. to have full control of Kabul and the airport.
According to a report from the Washington Post, as the Taliban began taking control of Afghanistan, senior U.S. military leaders met with Taliban political leader Abdul Ghani Baradar in Doha, Qatar, where an offer was made for the United States to have control of Kabul until all U.S. troops had withdrawn; the offer was declined.
