“The Greatest American Hero” is a silly 1980’s show about a man that does the bidding of aliens. The aliens give him superpowers thru a suit that only works for him, and they instruct him to secretly accept targets given to him from anFBI Agent named Maxwell.

The first episode is about a plot to kill the president. The main character is named Hinkley. And it aired March 18th 1981. Ring any bells yet?

The show beginning a week before Reagan was shot by a confessed insane person with the same name as the star is not a coincidence.

The episode focuses on the Vice President being owned by the bad guys and that when they kill POTUS he needs to remember who put him there. Had Reagan actually been killed instead of just wounded… well, that seems to be what they were expecting then.

So, how does a superhero story connect to an attempted presidential assassination?

It’s the story of a special ed teacher of extremely dangerous students. One of his special ed students talks about knocking teeth out, killing people, and he pulls a knife on an FBI agent (it’s stated he has pulled his knife on many people before)

The Clown haired superhero gets a “superhero suit” that he can’t control very well because he lost the instructions, so he is always crashing into things and breaking bricks as he does.

After discussing losing the instructions to work his suit he boxes the most dangerous of his special ed students “Villicana”

In the only other Marx Bros film I watched for research this time – it had the clown wig wearing Adolph (Harpo) Marx asked to “act” and then he begins seducing a man and taking him in a “roll in the hay” again, ops instructions.

However these Marx Ops only seemed to last for as long as the Marx Bros did. And they died mostly in 1977.

A century ago, one section of Vienna played host to Adolf Hitler, Leon Trotsky, Joseph Tito, Sigmund Freud and Joseph Stalin.

In January 1913, a man whose passport bore the name Stavros Papadopoulos disembarked from the Krakow train at Vienna's North Terminal station.

Of dark complexion, he sported a large peasant's moustache and carried a very basic wooden suitcase.

"I was sitting at the table," wrote the man he had come to meet, years later, "when the door opened with a knock and an unknown man entered.

"He was short… thin… his greyish-brown skin covered in pockmarks… I saw nothing in his eyes that resembled friendliness."

The writer of these lines was a dissident Russian intellectual, the editor of a radical newspaper called Pravda (Truth). His name was Leon Trotsky.

The man he described was not, in fact, Papadopoulos.

He had been born Iosif Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili, was known to his friends as Koba and is now remembered as Joseph Stalin.

Trotsky and Stalin were just two of a number of men who lived in central Vienna in 1913 and whose lives were destined to mould, indeed to shatter, much of the 20th century.

It was a disparate group. The two revolutionaries, Stalin and Trotsky, were on the run. Sigmund Freud was already well established.

The psychoanalyst, exalted by followers as the man who opened up the secrets of the mind, lived and practised on the city's Berggasse.
