If smoke gets in your eyes, you're not alone.
Smoke from wildfires in the western United States and Canada is clouding the Sooner State’s skies and reducing air quality.
Oklahoma City's air quality on Wednesday was rated unsafe for some people with respiratory problems, though most of the state had moderate air quality, according to the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality.
“The long duration of degraded air quality may affect especially those with cardiovascular or respiratory problems and other sensitive individuals,” the agency wrote in a post on its website.
Inhaling particles carried by smoke also can be harmful to children and the elderly.

Wildfires sweep across northern California as record temperatures rage
The wind that comes sweeping down the plains in Oklahoma has carried in smoke particles from large wildfires in northern California, the Pacific Northwest and Canada for several days.
Jet streams have pushed cooler yet smokier air over the southern Great Plains, resulting in hazy, colorful sunrises and sunsets across the state — and breathing difficulty for some.
Kelly Martin, a retired teacher’s assistant in Ponca City, said the smoke has made being outdoors unpleasant.
“I had one day early this week when I had chest congestion from a 20-minute walk,” Martin said. “It was most likely from all that smoke.”
