And the same Chief Rabbinate considers and teaches the Torah as 'superceding' the New Testament and Christianity. It's why the Old Testament is referred to as 'The Torah' rather than 'the Old Testament' in Judaism.
If considering the Torah as superceding the New Testament and Christianity is not 'contempt' towards Christians and Christianity and Catholics and Catholicism, then neither are the Pope's remarks about the Torah.
That's basic logic.
In the Christian and Catholic faiths, Jesus is messiah who 'fulfilled' 'The Law' that is the Old Testament/Torah, so of course in those faiths the Old Testament ALONE is incomplete.
