Now, imagine that you start accumulating parasites from the time you are born until the day you die and they are damaging your insides. They are foreign to your body so your immune system kicks in and tries to protect you and gets rid of a good percentage of them. The human body has a natural immune system that works incredibly well. However, as you get older and accumulate more parasites or the ones you do have are causing more damage your immune system gets busier and busier and busier.
