When it came out, I stubbornly stuck to my green letters on a black background, tried to hack Windows 3.0 to keep that screen type. It didn't seem normal or right to have black letters on a white background.
Yep, I could switch to DOS when I wanted, mostly to manage files. Still have it on a floppy, install it from time to time just for the memories.
