You let them sleep as you unload the groceries and then the last bag tears and the Mayo jar shatters and you start wiping and sweeping up glass and then the phone rings and it’s your doctor explaining that you need to come in for an ultrasound because your mammogram shows a mass and so you call your sister to tell her and you start to cry because your mom died of breast cancer and you are now terrified and even more distracted, but at least the twins are napping, in your mind in their cribs, so you lie down on the couch to sleep a bit before starting to make supper.
Or you left them sleeping so you could go play at the casino.
