CNN anchor Jim Acosta said Saturday on “Newsroom” that the right in America has become “like the American Taliban,” which he named “MAGAban.”

Acosta said, “Leading figures on the far right have been sounding the alarm on Afghanistan evacuees all week. The refugees are coming. The refugees are coming.”

He continued, “Over on Fox, human manure spreader Tucker Carlson has floated yet another race-baiting conspiracy theory that tens of thousands of Afghan refugees are being sent over to this country in order to change the outcome of elections.”

Biden Administration Will ‘Protect Women’ Against Texas Abortion Law

White House chief of staff Ron Klain said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that the Biden administration would use “legal remedies to protect women who are seeking to exercise their constitutional rights” of getting an abortion in Texas.

Anchor Dana Bash said, “I have to ask about the Supreme Court declining to block a Texas law, which bans all abortion after six weeks of pregnancy and effectively deputizes private citizens to enforce it. I know the president is directing federal agencies to look into ways to address this, but this is the law of the land right now. There are women who are scared and don’t know what to do in Texas. You know the law better than most people I know in this country. Is the reality that there isn’t a whole lot the administration can do right now to change things in Texas?”

Klain said, “Dana, I hope that’s not the reality. We have the best lawyers at the Justice Department looking for legal remedies to protect women who are seeking to exercise their constitutional rights. We have the team at HHS looking at what means we can do to try to get women the healthcare services they need in the face of this Texas law. And we have the gender policy counsel here at the White House, the first time a president’s ever had a policy counsel devoted to gender issues coordinating all this work to bring options forward for the president and the vice president.”

Bash said, “So you think it’s possible that you can do something at the federal level?”

Klain said, “We are going to find ways if they’re at all possible, and I think they are possible, we are going to find ways to make a difference for the women of Texas to try to protect their constitutional rights, yes.”

Kinzinger: GOP ‘Should Not Have the Majority’ Until They Stop They ‘Pushing Conspiracies’

Representative Adam Kinzinger (R- IL) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that if Republicans continue to push lies and conspiracies, his party should “not have the majority” in Congress.

Kinzinger said, “The question is, what is our party going to be? Are we going to be the party of opportunity and hope, or the party of anger, division, and truth has no place in it?”

He added, “The party desperately needs some people to stand up and tell the truth.”

‘How is this not literally child trafficking?’: Sen. Cruz livid over shocking report on Afghan refugees

The problem is that the administration doesn’t really seem to know who was evacuated. All that’s known for certain is that few of the Afghan allies who’d worked alongside America’s veterans and thus earned the privilege of being evacuated actually got out.

“[A] small percentage of the Afghan citizens who got out are the ones the U.S. pledged to place at the top of its priority list: the thousands who had worked for the U.S. and its allies as well as employees of nongovernmental groups and media organizations,” Bloomberg reported Friday.

“In fact, many of the Afghans who were most vulnerable to the Taliban — applicants for the Special Immigrant Visa program intended for translators and others who aided the American war effort — didn’t make it out because the U.S. told them going to the airport would be too dangerous. And they never got a call to come before the last U.S. plane departed to meet President Joe Biden’s Aug. 31 departure deadline,” the outlet added.

Guinea capital Conakry rocked by reports of coup attempt

The fate of Guinea's President Alpha Condé is unclear after an unverified video showed him in the hands of soldiers, who said they had staged a coup.

However, the defence minister has been quoted as saying the attempted takeover had been thwarted.

This follows hours of heavy gunfire near the presidential palace in the capital, Conakry.

Soldiers are patrolling the otherwise deserted streets of the city centre.

Terrified residents of the central Kaloum district have heeded their orders to stay at home.

In the video, the soldiers from a unit of elite special forces ask President Condé to confirm he is unharmed but he refuses to respond.

Kinzinger knocks Texas abortion law component that allows people to 'tattle'

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) said on Sunday that while he is personally opposed to abortion, he dislikes a component of a recently enacted Texas law that allows private citizens to “tattle” on each other to enforce the legislation.

“I'm pro-life, but what I don't like to see is this idea of every citizen being able to tattle, sue an Uber driver, as you said, be deputized to enforce this abortion law to whatever they want,” Kinzinger said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

“I think, if you're going to do something on abortion, it's a debate that we should have that's open and not just opening people up to be sued for any bit part in that process,” Kinzinger added.

The full on-camera interview will air next Sunday, September 12

Trump also said he feels the ruling is likely temporary

Colorado proposes new electoral map that could oust Trump ally Lauren Boebert from Congress as her home gets lumped into blue district

A proposed district map in Colorado would move Republican Lauren Boebert's home into Democrat Joe Neguse's district

The new map based on the 2020 census results would take a large chunk of the northern part of Boebert's 3rd district and lump it into the 2nd district

This new map could lead to a head-to-head in a solidly blue district

U.S. Constitution states a representative does not need to live in the district they represent – just the same state

Cruz on Biden Importing Afghan Child Brides: Every Official Involved Is a Disgrace, Must Be Held Accountable

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) slammed President Joe Biden after “credible and horrifying” reports surfaced, claiming that the administration’s botched Afghanistan withdrawal, forcing a deadly evacuation, was linked to transferring “child brides into the United States.”

“These reports are credible and horrifying. President Biden had no plan for a secure, orderly, and responsible withdrawal from Afghanistan,” said Cruz, who is a member of the powerful Senate Foreign Relations Committee, about the reports.

Cruz said that Biden-Harris officials instead “imposed arbitrary deadlines for political purposes.” In doing so, the administration “rushed the evacuation to expedite moving tens of thousands of Afghans into the United States without thoroughly vetting them for security, health, and humanitarian concerns.”

When the evacuations started, the senator said he called for the “refugees to remain in safe third countries while they were vetted,” but Biden “rushed to bring them to the United States.”

CBS has learned multiple flights are being held on the ground at the Mazar-i-Sharif airport in Northern Afghanistan… by the Taliban.

An email from the State Department to members of congress and viewed by CBS acknowledged that charter flights are still on the ground at the Mazar-i-Sharif airstrip and have permission to land in Doha "if and when the Taliban agrees to takeoff.

"The Taliban is basically holding them hostage to get more out of the Americans," a senior congressional source told CBS News.

The group Ascend, an NGO that teaches young women leadership through athletics, told CBS News they have two planes that have been waiting for six days ready to take between 600 and 1200 people – including 19 American citizens and two permanent residents.

"The U.S. airfield in Qatar that has been standing by, ready to receive, is now beginning to pack up," Marina LeGree, the executive director, told CBS News. "We hope visibility will add pressure to force a solution. Six days of talks are not encouraging."

The State Department advised members of congress to tell groups seeking to evacuate out of Mazar-i-Sharif that the US does not have personnel on the ground in that location and does not control the airspace.

Congressional and NGO sources say here are at least two physical plans on the ground and six more with approved clearance. The obstacle is the Taliban – which controls the airport and is not letting people board or the planes take off.
