But seriously, someone tell me what and where can it be found, what dates were used, say by the government of the Roman Empire, prior to the the adoption of the use BC and AD. I'm pretty sure when the Roman Empire passed a law, the date wasn't BC, so what was it. Anyone know?

Caesar was 55 when assassinated by his own senate, over 2000 years ago. Isn't amazing the man lived for 55 years without being injected 70 times before age 18?
