Unreal: Secretary of State Blinken Says Taliban Won’t Allow Stranded Americans at Mazar-i-Sharif Airport to Leave Because They Lack Valid Travel Documents

Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday denied reports that the Taliban was preventing Americans from flying out of Afghanistan from the Mazar-e-Sharif airport. Blinken said the Americans and SIV migrants were not allowed to leave because they lacked valid travel documents.

The civilians at the Mazar-i-Sharif Airport are fleeing the country and fear for their lives.

There are from six to ten private planes at the Mazar-i-Sharif airport ready to evacuate Americans and American allies from northern Afghanistan.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday said the U.S. is “not aware” of a “hostage-like situation” at Mazari-i-Sharif in Afghanistan after reports that the Taliban were not allowing Americans to leave.

“We are not aware of anyone being held on an aircraft or any hostage life situation in Mazar-i-Sharif,” Blinken said during a joint news conference with Qatar’s top diplomats and defense officials in Doha.

Blinken did, however, reveal that the U.S. has identified a “relatively small number” of Americans who are trying to depart from the airport. He also said the administration has been “assured” by the Taliban that American and Afghan citizens with valid travel documents will be allowed to exit.

“We’ve been able to identify a relatively small number of Americans who we believe are seeking to depart from Mazar-i-Sharif with their families. We have been assured, again, that all American citizens and Afghan citizens with valid travel documents will be allowed to leave,” Blinken said.

“And again, we intend to hold the Taliban to that,” he added.

Newsom Pushes for California Taxpayers to Give $16.7 Million in ‘Cash Assistance’ to Afghan Refugees in the State

California Governor Gavin Newsom is pushing for taxpayers in the state to cough up $16.7 million in “cash assistance” to Afghan refugees settling in the state.

Newsom is currently facing a massive recall effort.

“The Governor, with support from legislative leaders, is requesting $16.7 million in general funds, which will be used to provide cash assistance and other services for newly arriving Afghans in the state,” a press release from Newsom’s office said.

In a statement, Newsom said that California is a “place of refuge for those seeking safety or a better life.”

“I am proud that California has been and always will be a place of refuge for those seeking safety or a better life – especially for those who served our country, like many of the Afghan refugees coming to America, and to California,” said Governor Newsom. “Today’s announcements and request for funding signal that California stands ready to assist those in need. As the nation’s most diverse state, we don’t simply tolerate diversity, we celebrate it.”

The statement said that the refugees are being given access to health care, public benefits and additional resources.

Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon has also endorsed the idea of handing over taxpayer money to the foreigners.

“California has long been a beacon for international refugees seeking safety and a better life,” said Speaker Rendon. “I need to look no further than my wife’s family to know how true this is. But adjusting to a new culture poses an incredible challenge for thousands of people. The Legislature has already proposed funding to support Afghan refugees – we have the funds to help. With this modest, but important step we can help ensure that refugees fleeing Afghanistan have the tools they need to successfully rebuild their lives in California.”

As of January, 2020, there were roughly 151,000 homeless people in the state, including many veterans. They do not appear to be given the same priority from the controversial governor.

Justin Trudeau Pelted By Rocks At Campaign Event

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has been pelted by rocks while on a campaign stop Monday ahead of Canada’s general election. The incident took place in London, Ontario - with the Canadian leader later confirming he believes he was hit on the shoulder. The inbound objects were widely described as "small rocks".

Video shows him being pushed onto a bus by his aides to escape a large and unruly group of protesters angry at his vaccine mandate policies, which include required Covid vaccines for all workers in federally regulated industries, as well as for any citizen to travel by rail, public bus, or commercial flight.

Though there were no injuries reported from the stone throwing incident, at least two others traveling on a media bus were hit by the rocks as well.

According to the BBC, Trudeau's recent political rally stops have been marred by unusually aggressive crowds protesting Canada's stringent Covid vaccine and prior lockdown policies. "Mr Trudeau called a snap election in mid-August, in the hope of gaining a majority government for his left-of-centre Liberal party. But his campaign has been disrupted by demonstrations against Covid-19 vaccine mandates and other restrictions," the report says.

"Just over a week ago, the prime minister was forced to cancel an election rally after a crowd of angry protesters ambushed the event," BBC continues.

Other political leaders condemned what they called "political violence" and an alarming atmosphere of "intimidation, harassment, and violence." This despite the rocks appearing so small in size as to likely not able to hurt anyone.

Christian University Commissions Murals of Trans Flag and Failed Dem Gubernatorial Candidate Stacey Abrams

The university itself also shared images of the murals on it’s Instagram story,” the report states. “Emory University has not responded to Campus Reform’s inquiry as to if they paid to have the murals created or provided us with any kind of comment; this article will be updated accordingly.”

Taliban Unveils New Government, Includes FBI 'Most Wanted' Terrorist As Interior Minister

The Taliban unveiled its new government on Tuesday in the presence of invited foreign delegations from Russia, China, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan and Qatar - which gives a strong indicator of how Afghanistan's new foreign policy will be aligned.

"Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, the little-known head of the Taliban’s leadership council, was named as acting prime minister, spokesman Zabihullah Mujahed said at a press conference in Kabul on Tuesday," Bloomberg reports of the announcement. The spokesman emphasized this is the current 'acting' or caretaker government.

Though Taliban co-founder Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar was widely expected to be named head of state, given he's until now been the public face of the group at places like Doha during negotiations, Baradar has been named as deputy prime minister.

Akhund is considered among the founding members of the Taliban, according to one profile:

Akhund is from the Kandahar region of Afghanistan, where the Taliban had emerged in the 1990s. He was among the founding members of the insurgency group, according to reports. He is believed to be more of a religious than a military leader and is considered close to the Taliban's spiritual and supreme leader Sheikh Hibatullah Akhundzada.

Perhaps more interesting is who was named as the new Taliban government's interior minister - none other than Sirajuddin Haqqani of the notorious terrorist Haqqani Network.

"Sirajuddin Haqqani - the leader of the Haqqani Network, a U.S.-designated terrorist organization - will serve as acting interior minister," Bloomberg continues. "That may complicate any moves by the U.S. to cooperate with the Taliban, particularly as President Joe Biden urges the Taliban to cut all ties with terrorist groups."

Third Person Dies In Japan After Receiving Tainted Moderna Vaccine

A 49-year-old man has become the third person to die in Japan after receiving the Moderna vaccine from a contaminated batch.

According to The Guardian, the man had his second Moderna shot on August 11 and died the next day. Authorities were careful not to declare a causal link, while the health ministry said on Monday that his only known allergy was to buckwheat.

The shot came from the same batches that were found to have fragments of stainless steel in them, leading to a recall of 1.63m doses of the Moderna vaccine on 26 August. The three batches were manufactured in Spain under contract by Moderna.

The company has yet to comment on the most recent fatality, but last week issued a joint statement with local distributor Takeda Pharmaceutical, saying: “The rare presence of stainless steel particles in the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine does not pose an undue risk to patient safety and it does not adversely affect the benefit/risk profile of the product.” -The Guardian

The first two deaths were men in their 30s with no underlying health conditions, who died within days of receiving their second dose of the Moderna vaccine from batches tainted with a metallic substance that 'reacts to magnets.'

Most of Japan uses the Pfizer vaccine, however at least 12.2 million doses of Moderna have been given country-wide, where 48% of the population is fully vaccinated, and at least 59% have received one shot.

Separately, in late August and early September, pieces of what was believed to be rubber fragments from vial stoppers which entered the vaccine liquid due to improperly inserted needles were found in Okinawa, Gunma and Kanagawa - however there were no health issues associated with those contaminated vials. According to the report, over 500,000 people have been injected with doses from all three tainted batches, according to Taro Kono, the minister in charge of the vaccine program.

UK minister says no ‘firebreak’ lockdown planned for autumn, but Covid-19 booster jabs are a ‘priority’

Britain’s vaccine minister has dismissed talk of a planned firebreak lockdown this autumn if Covid hospitalisations remain high, but he said the ability to sustain the reopening of the economy will depend on the vaccine campaign.

Speaking on Tuesday, the British minister responsible for the vaccine rollout, Nadhim Zahawi, rejected a report in the i newspaper which claimed the government was planning a lockdown this October if hospital admissions from Covid-19 remain high.

The paper claimed that a senior government scientist and SAGE member said the cabinet was aware that an imminent “extended peak” of infections and hospitalisations was forthcoming. As a result, an October lockdown could be on the cards to protect the health service.

Speaking to Sky News, Zahawi did not endorse or deny the suggestion of another lockdown, but he said the government was now focused on a booster shot campaign. The “one-way road towards sustaining the opening of the economy” will only happen if the booster campaign goes to plan. He later said there were no plans for another lockdown.

He said that the inoculation campaign had allowed the country to reach an equilibrium, where virus circulation is high, but the economy is about as open as it could be. “They have prevented over 100,000 deaths, many, many millions of infections, and of course hospitalisations as well,” the vaccines minister said.

Zahawi said that the booster campaign, which has been recommended by the country’s vaccine experts, would help “transition the virus from pandemic to endemic status.”

The government announced plans for a booster campaign earlier in the summer but is yet to embark on the programme. While the current vaccines provide excellent immunity against the virus, data shows that their effectiveness wanes over time. The arrival of new variants such as Delta has also compromised efficacy. It is possible that new jabs specifically geared to the variants, such as the Novavax jab, will be used for booster shots.

‘Tiger King’ star and zookeeper Erik Cowie dead at 53

Erik Cowie, the zookeeper of Netflix’s zany animal documentary series “Tiger King,” has died at the age of 53.

Authorities found Cowie’s body on Sept. 3 in New York City, TMZ reported, after a friend found him face down in a bedroom.

It’s unclear as to why the animal trainer was in the Big Apple, as he lived in Oklahoma. No drugs were found at the scene and a toxicology report is set to be performed.

Cowie appeared on the reality show as one of now-imprisoned star Joe Exotic’s longtime animal caretakers. After Joe, 58, was sent to jail, Cowie stayed and took care of his big cats at the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park.

He later testified against the animal wrangler who allegedly abused and killed some of his animals.

Cowie was busted for a DUI in Oklahoma earlier this year after being involved in a car accident. He pleaded guilty and was supposed to be sentenced shortly after the incident, however, he failed to turn up for his hearing.

Many fans have speculated in the past that Cowie’s crooked teeth were due to meth use. He denied that rumor and once said his bad pearly whites were due to old age. He received teeth implants in July 2020 from fellow “Tiger King” star Jeff Lowe.

Cowie had admitted to having a drinking problem in the past and according to TMZ, he previously said that he was “at the end of [his] rope” with his alcoholism prior to finding Joe.

Biden’s National Security Council China Director Is Former Fellow At Chinese State-Funded Group Advising Communist Officials Sanctioned For Human Rights Abuses.

Julian Gewirtz, Joe Biden’s China Director at the National Security Council, is a former fellow at the Chinese regime-funded Ash Center, which has also advised Chinese Communist Party officials sanctioned by the U.S. government for human rights abuses.

Hosted within the Harvard Kennedy School, the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation is funded by several Chinese Communist Party-backed entities. Among its donors are China Southern Power Grid Corp, whose management is “directly appointed by China’s central government.”

Additional donations come from New World China Enterprises Project, a Chinese company whose board is composed of virtually all Chinese Communist Party members. Chairman and Executive Director Cheng Kar-Shun served as a Standing Committee Member of the regime’s Political Consultative Conference, an arm of the party-state responsible for conducting overseas influence operations.

As a result, the center has routinely produced studies amplified by Chinese state-run media outlets and regime officials. A July 2020 report – “Understanding CCP Resilience: Surveying Chinese Public Opinion Through Time” – contends that the Chinese Communist Party is “as strong as ever” and that “Chinese citizen satisfaction with government has increased virtually across the board.”

For two decades, the Ash Center has also hosted the “China’s Leaders in Development Program,” which describes itself as being “widely recognized by the Chinese government as one of the best overseas training programs for government officials.”

“Taught both at Tsinghua University, China, and Harvard Kennedy School, this multi weeks training program is specifically designed to help prepare senior local and central Chinese government officials to more effectively address the ongoing challenges of China’s national reforms,” the summary continues.

Beyond collaborating with a university that has attempted to hack the U.S. government, the program brings Harvard professors’ prestigious advice to senior leaders from the brutal Chinese Communist Party, handpicked by the party’s own Organization Department of the Central Committee. Several years, members of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corp, which has been identified as an “instrument of repression” against Uighurs by the Washington Post and accordingly sanctioned by former President Donald Trump, have joined the delegation.

Despite these ties, Gewirtz served as a fellow at the center from 2017 to 2018.

Gewirtz has also been a fellow at the Columbia-Harvard China and the World Program, which has hosted the Chairman of the China United States-Exchange Foundation (CUSEF) C.H. Tung as a speaker. CUSEF functions as part of China’s “United Front,” which the U.S.-China Security and Economic Review Commission identifies as seeking to “to co-opt and neutralize sources of potential opposition to the policies and authority of its ruling Chinese Communist Party” and “influence foreign governments to take actions or adopt positions supportive of Beijing.”

Jeff Bezos has reportedly invested in anti-aging startup Altos Labs

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has reportedly invested in Altos Labs, a startup dedicated to discovering how to reverse the aging process.

The company was founded earlier this year and is poaching university scientists with salaries as high as $1 million and promises that they can pursue their own research on how cells age and how to reverse that process, according to a report from MIT Tech Review.

Altos Labs also counts Bezos among its investors, the report said, citing people briefed by the company.

Bezos’ investment office Bezos Expeditions did not return The Post’s request for comment.

Bezos, 57, is currently the world’s richest man with a net worth of about $201 billion, according to Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index.

He has funded similar research in the past, previously investing in anti-aging company Unity Biotechnology.

El Salvador Buys Up Bitcoin Ahead of Adoption as Legal Tender

The South American country of El Salvador is buying up large quantities of Bitcoin (BTC) as its law making the digital cryptocurrency legal tender is implemented.

El Salvador has bought 400 bitcoin (roughly $21 million) so far, with plans to buy “a lot more,” according to a statement from the country’s President, Nayib Bukele.

In a series of tweets Monday, President Nayib Bukele revealed that the country had purchased a total of 400 bitcoin, the first step in a larger push to add the digital currency to its balance sheet.

The tweets were posted a few hours apart. Based on the bitcoin price at the time of the tweets, the amount of the digital coin purchased totaled roughly $20.9 million.

“Our brokers will be buying a lot more as the deadline approaches,” he wrote.

The price of bitcoin rose following the tweets and was trading at around $52,681.85 at 12:16 a.m. ET Tuesday.

El Salvador passed a law making BTC legal tender in June, but it has only come into effect as of Tuesday. The President’s tweets came shortly before the law took effect.

83 Unaccompanied Migrant Children Found in Single Group in AZ Desert

On Friday, Border Patrol agents near San Miguel, Arizona, arrested 93 migrants in a single group moving through the desert. Of the 93, 83 were determined to be unaccompanied children. Of those 83, 70 claimed to be between the ages of 15- and 17-years-old.

Unaccompanied children are becoming more common in the area as large groups surrender. In late August, agents arrested more than 100 unaccompanied children in two large groups within 48 hours.

The number of unaccompanied migrant children arrested by Border Patrol this year eclipsed historical records as overall apprehensions. In Fiscal Year 2021, nearly 1 in 10 migrant arrests involve unaccompanied minors. Fiscal Year 2020 saw only a third of the number of minors. To deal with the volume, Health and Human Services (HHS) opened dozens of temporary shelters since February to house children.

HHS is responsible for receiving the children from Border Patrol and finding relatives or sponsors within the United States. The pace of HHS releases struggles to wash with rolling detention levels. In August, HHS released more than 18,000 migrant children. There are nearly 16,000 in federal custody as of Friday, September 3.

According to a source within CBP, another complicating factor is establishing the true age of the children—some claiming to be 16- or 17-years-old. In past years, forensic dentistry was employed to provide a more accurate age to prevent adults from being detained with minors.

Border Patrol typically trusts the information they are provided at the time of apprehension.
