Two Years: Conservative Govt Expected to Extend Emergency Powers Until March 2022

The British government is set to extend the Coronavirus Act for a further six months until March 2022 — two years to the month that the ’emergency’ law was passed.

On March 23rd, 2020, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the first of many lockdowns to be imposed on the UK — the first of three in England — with the Coronavirus Act 2020 receiving Royal Assent on March 25th after being fast-tracked through parliament in just four sitting days.

The emergency law has temporary provisions meaning it expires every six months unless renewed, as the government had done before, with the government signalling it was preparing to renew the Coronavirus Act in the autumn, maintaining most of the temporary powers until March 2022.

Prime Minister Johnson’s spokesman told The Guardian on Monday: “It would obviously be irresponsible to allow all temporary provisions to expire. These are provisions that would, if removed, take away the government’s ability to protect renters from eviction, for example, or to give sick pay to those self-isolating from day one.”

He added: “So it’s important that we take a proportionate approach to the Coronavirus Act because there are elements that do still provide protections for the public.”

The prime minister is likely to face opposition from lockdown-sceptic Conservative MPs in the House of Commons, with one government insider telling the Financial Times amidst similar reports last week: “The Coronavirus Act is going to be one of the trickier bills to pass. We’re gearing up for a fight with our own MPs, who are going to be reluctant to support it.”

Tripwire announced in a statement Monday that Gibson had stepped down and that co-founder and Vice President Alan Wilson will take over as interim CEO.

“The comments given by John Gibson are of his own opinion, and do not reflect those of Tripwire Interactive as a company,” the statement read. “His comments disregarded the values of our whole team, our partners and much of our broader community. Our leadership team at Tripwire are deeply sorry and are unified in our commitment to take swift action and to foster a more positive environment.”

Gibson’s comments sparked backlash from the gaming community, with some gaming developers announcing they would no longer work with Tripwire due to Gibson’s stance on the abortion law. Gaming developer Shipwright Studios, which had previously collaborated with Tripwire, responded to Gibson’s tweet saying that “while your politics are your own, the moment you make them a matter of public discourse you entangle all of those working for and with you.”

Kuwait takes over Arab League presidency from Qatar

Qatar today handed over the presidency of the Arab League to Kuwait ahead of the group's next meeting on Thursday, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.

IDF chief says Israel accelerating Iran strike plans, acting throughout Mideast

Israel has “greatly accelerated” preparations for action against Iran’s nuclear program, military chief Aviv Kohavi said in an interview published Monday.

Kohavi told Walla news that “a significant chunk of the boost to the defense budget, as was recently agreed, was intended for this purpose. It’s a very complicated job, with much more intelligence, much more operational capabilities, much more armaments. We’re working on all these things.”

The head of the Israel Defense Forces said the military’s current main objective is “minimizing Iranian presence in the Middle East, with an emphasis on Syria…but these operations take place throughout the Middle East. They’re also against Hamas, against Hezbollah.”

Kohavi said Israeli strikes and other operations had “greatly diminished Iran’s presence and weaponry in the northern arena, certainly in comparison to what they sought.” He said the army was “very active in disrupting the smuggling routes of Hezbollah, of Hamas, of Iran, in all regions.”

The IDF “is operating at much greater depths, at 360 degrees throughout all the Middle East. It doesn’t wait for the threat to come. It prepares, it meets [the threat] head-on, neutralizes it, roots it out.”

“The State of Israel has the means to act and will not hesitate to do so. I do not rule out the possibility that Israel will have to take action in the future in order to prevent a nuclear Iran,” Gantz said.

“Iran is only two months away from acquiring the materials necessary for a nuclear weapon. We do not know if the Iranian regime will be willing to sign an agreement and come back to the negotiation table and the international community must build a viable ‘Plan B’ in order to stop Iran in its tracks towards a nuclear weapon,” he added.

Though Iran is believed to be two months away from obtaining the fissile material needed for a bomb, the IDF has assessed that it would take at least several more months from then before Tehran would be capable of producing a deliverable weapon, needing that time to construct a core, perform tests and install the device inside a missile.

On Sunday Kohavi visited the home of a Border Police sniper fatally wounded during a riot along the Gaza border last month to express his condolences to the fuming family.

Barel Hadaria Shmueli was shot in the head at point-blank range by a Palestinian gunman on August 21 and succumbed to his wounds just over a week later. On Friday, the IDF released the initial findings of its investigation into Shmueli’s death, blaming it principally on the way in which troops were deployed along the Gaza border barrier during the riot.

OB-GYN association touts fetal pain study repudiated by co-author

One of Planned Parenthood's top medical allies cites debunked scientific studies to advocate for late-term abortions, according to medical experts.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the leading membership organization for OB-GYNs with deep ties to the abortion industry, cites two studies to support its position that fetuses are unable to feel pain until roughly 24 weeks—a widely held view contradicted by recent studies. Dr. Stuart Derbyshire, who helped write the 2010 study cited by ACOG, has since repudiated his findings. In 2020, Derbyshire co-authored a peer-reviewed analysis that concludes fetuses begin to feel pain at 12 weeks, the end of the first trimester. The National University of Singapore neuroscientist, who is pro-choice, said ACOG's stance fails to acknowledge updated scientific understandings of pain.

"If they want to maintain a webpage on fetal pain then they probably should update it and start rethinking it," Derbyshire told the Washington Free Beacon. "They’ve dug a bit of a hole for themselves because they’ve indicated that in some sense [fetal pain] does matter—I think that’s a tactical error."

ACOG's position on fetal pain could play a major role in setting abortion policy as the Supreme Court case prepares to decide a legal challenge to Mississippi's fetal pain law, which prohibits abortion after 15 weeks. The state contends the law reflects updated scientific understandings of fetal development since the Court established the trimester approach to regulation when it legalized abortion nationwide in Roe v. Wade. ACOG has called for the Supreme Court to strike down the ban—a position that could shape how justices approach the issue. The Supreme Court cited ACOG research on abortion safety in the majority opinion of Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt, which ruled against a Texas law that required abortion doctors to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital. The late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg cited the organization for its expertise in her opinions on issues ranging from contraception to late-term abortion.

A spokeswoman for ACOG told the Free Beacon that the organization maintains its position that fetuses are unable to feel pain prior to viability. That position, according to the group's website, is based on Derbyshire's 2010 paper, as well as a 2005 study that collected and reviewed medical literature dating back decades. The 2005 study, which was led by a lawyer, was dogged by ethical and conflict of interest scandals. Two of its authors failed to disclose their abortion-industry ties to the medical journal prior to publication. Its lawyer worked for abortion lobbyist NARAL and one of its doctors was a practicing abortionist.

ACOG released a joint statement Wednesday with other medical lobbying organizations in opposition to the Texas law banning abortion after six weeks, which the Supreme Court declined to block in a 5-4 decision.

ACOG advocates for legal abortion until fetal viability at roughly 24 weeks. The group insists that fetuses cannot detect pain until viability because the cerebral cortex of the brain, which activates when pain is detected, does not develop until 24 weeks. This understanding has been contradicted by two more recent scientific discoveries: Those without a cerebral cortex feel pain, and those unable to feel pain still have an active cerebral cortex. The organization has ignored such findings even as it lobbies Congress to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would overturn pro-life state laws.

Not only does Torres worry about the people left behind, but also the military weaponry. “Here’s the thing about that equipment, you know, the equipment are going to Chinese,” Torres told Carter. “The equipment is one thing, but the code behind it, the computer programming code behind that stuff, is what the Chinese and the Russians need to catch up with us.”

“But we see the Chinese government, the CCP extending its tentacles across the globe in a way that we have never seen before,” Carter said. “I mean, literally, I think our national security is at stake.”

Crimea Pipeline Explosion Was Allegedly Orchestrated By Ukrainian Intelligence

The explosion of a gas pipeline in Crimea was organized by Ukrainian intelligence, Russia’s security service – the FSB reported.

On August 23, unidentified persons damaged the gas pipeline, located in Crimea’s mountainous area and used for supplying gas to a military unit and to the village of Perevalnoye. The gas pipeline operation was restored on the next day. On 6 September, four suspects were arrested.

“It was established that this act of sabotage was orchestrated by the Ukrainian Defence Ministry’s Main Intelligence Directorate department in Kherson, the so-called Tavria operational service, with participation of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, which is banned in Russia. On 4 September 2021, FSB staffers detained Crimean residents: Mejlis deputy chairman Nariman Dzhelyalov who acted as a middleman, and direct perpetrators Asan and Aziz Akhmetov,” the FSB said in a statement.

Allegedly, the perpetrators traveled to Ukraine in June to be trained to use explosives. The Ukrainian military intelligence pledged to pay them around $2,000 for the act of sabotage. The explosive device was delivered to Crimea in July. The attack was initially scheduled to be carried out on the Independence Day of Ukraine, celebrated on August 24th.

In August, several suspects blew up the gas pipe of the State Unitary Enterprise “RK“ Krymgazseti ”in the village of Perevalnoye, Simferopol district, which left residents without gas. The Ministry of Internal Affairs opened a case of deliberate damage to property (part 2 of article 167). The maximum punishment for her is five years in prison.

The FSB on September 4 detained three residents of Crimea, who are now in custody. According to the service, one of them is an intermediary, deputy chairman of the Mejlis Nariman Dzhelyalov, two others are the direct perpetrators of the sabotage Asan and Aziz Akhtemov.

According to initial reports five local residents were detained on suspicion of damaging the gas pipeline, their lawyer Emil Kurbedinov said. Then it turned out that the Mejlis members were detained, and they were three.

At the same time, about 60 people came out to the FSB building in Simferopol to protest. The protesters demanded to tell where the detained Crimean Tatars were, whose houses were searched by law enforcement agencies the day before.

The US State Department later called on the Russian authorities to release all detainees.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky linked the detentions in Simferopol to the Crimean Platform forum. “They have already taken Nariman Dzhelyalov <…This is how Russia reacts to the start of the Crimean Platform operation. All detainees must be released,” the president wrote.

According to the official version of events, at the direction of one of the leaders of the “Mejlis” in June the Akhmetovs went to Ukraine, where they were trained in explosives. They were promised about $2,000 for organizing the explosion. The action was planned to coincide with the Independence Day of Ukraine, August 24th.

After physically inspecting the conveyance, officers discovered 16 packages of alleged cocaine weighing 38.97 pounds (17.68 kg) concealed within the vehicle.

On Sunday, Sept. 5, 2021, CBP officers assigned to the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility encountered a tractor trailer arriving from Mexico. More than 100 Ontario youth sent to hospital for vaccine-related heart problems: Report

A report quietly released last week by Public Health Ontario (PHO) tallies the number of people in the province who have presented to hospital with heart inflammation following mRNA vaccination, and it skews heavily towards young people.

As of Aug. 7, there were 106 incidents of myocarditis/pericarditis in Ontarians under the age of 25. That’s slightly more than half of the total of all such incidents.

The report explains that PHO issued a directive in June for public health units to increase their surveillance of this side effect following reports from the United States and Israel of similar concerns unfolding in those countries.

“The reporting rate of myocarditis/pericarditis was higher following the second dose of mRNA vaccine than after the first, particularly for those receiving the Moderna vaccine as the second dose of the series (regardless of the product for the first dose),” the report explains.

PHO adds that the reporting rate for heart inflammation in those 18-24 was seven times higher with Moderna than with Pfizer. (The only vaccine currently used for 12- to 17-year-olds in Ontario is Pfizer.)

While PHO initially worked with reports of 314 such incidents, upon further investigation they narrowed that number down to just over 200.

"Pouring billions of dollars into China now is a tragic mistake," Soros wrote in the op-ed. "It is likely to lose money for BlackRock's clients and, more important, will damage the national security interests of the U.S. and other democracies."

Last month, BlackRock became the first foreign asset manager to operate a wholly owned mutual fund business in China, tapping the fast-growing $3.6 trillion retail fund market. This also comes after the government scrapped a foreign ownership cap in the industry on April 1, 2020.

‘Culture of Cosiness’: colossal conflicts of interest in Defence spending blitz

Extraordinary amounts of money. When combined with the fundamental undeclared, and undealt with, conflicts of interest that have now become routine in Australia’s defence sector, the potential for corruption has increased markedly. Corporate influence on government policy has been cultivated for years by a phenomenon at which the arms trade excels: the revolving door. This is how the revolving door works. Defence-related politicians and public officials and military personnel are regularly offered high-level, high-paying positions with weapons companies upon retirement. This provides a strong incentive for those in public service, with an eye to their future, to seek the best interests of these companies. Military industry executives in turn are welcomed into government as experts, consultants and employees.

Corruption is defined as “the abuse of entrusted power for private gain, be it grand, petty, or political corruption” in the 2019 Australian research report, Governing for Integrity. The report says ‘undue influence’ is a marker for corruption, and that undue influence and the ‘revolving door’ are two key problems “eroding public confidence in parliamentarians and ministers, and weakening the fundamentals of democracy”.

Take the case of former defence minister Christopher Pyne, who discussed his future with EY Defence while still in parliament, then nine days after leaving politics accepted a position with them. Pyne now also runs his own lobbying firm, lectures as an ‘industry professor’ at the University of South Australia, and is chair of the advisory board and investment committee of a new investment fund promoting high returns via investment in selected defence and cyber stocks.

Pyne’s post-politics career made a mockery of the ministerial standards and lobbying rules and led to a senate inquiry, which included former foreign minister Julie Bishop, who only months after leaving parliament joined the board of multinational aid contractor Palladium.

The Liberals’ Peter Reith left his ministerial desk and popped up a few days later at Tenix, then Australia’s largest defence contractor. EY also secured the services of Labor’s Kim Beazley within a year of his political departure, along with former Labor defence minister Stephen Smith. Beazley joined the board of Lockheed Martin in between his public roles as US Ambassador and WA Governor. (The job description and the budget of the WA Governor has been expanded to enable Beazley to advocate for defence industry.) After a three-year association with EY, Smith has recently accepted directorships with cyber security companies ArchTIS and Sapien Cyber.

India fighting to contain Nipah, a virus deadlier than COVID-19

A 12-year-old boy has died in India of Nipah, a rare virus that is far deadlier than COVID-19 — and one that health officials have long feared could start a global pandemic.

The unidentified boy died Sunday at a hospital in Kerala, the southern state already battling the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the hard-hit country, officials there said.

He had already visited two other hospitals before his death, putting him in contact with potentially hundreds of people — with up to 11 showing potential symptoms, NDTV reported.

Previous outbreaks of Nipah, or NiV, showed an estimated fatality rate of between 40% and 75%, according to the World Health Organization, making it far more deadly than the coronavirus.

“The virus has been shown to spread from person-to-person in these outbreaks, raising concerns about the potential for NiV to cause a global pandemic,” the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said.

5 Easy Ways To Cultivate Self-Reliant Children

1 – Cooking – Start out easy with teaching them to make eggs, sandwiches, burgers, and move on to sauces for spaghetti or a simple soup. My daughter is actually responsible for making eggs for herself and her brother in the mornings and she’s only 10 years old. She chooses the seasoning and whether to fry them or scramble them. 4 – Self-defense – While we always hope our kids will fly under the radar of the local bully, sometimes a kid has to stand their ground. Teaching them basic blocking and self-defense moves, as well as the importance of trying to deescalate a situation will no doubt help them in the future. They need to be able to emotionally handle another person’s anger or cruelty. They also need to learn how to treat others and handle difficult emotions with rationality.

5 – Cleaning skills – Giving a child chores to do can be a headache for the parent trying to encourage the kids, but it teaches that cleaning a home falls on the family and not on one individual. As well, teaching basic housekeeping skills helps a child to understand what is expected of them when they move out and have take care of themselves in the future. US Central Command absorbs Israel into its area of responsibility

JERUSALEM — A realignment of U.S. Central Command means Israel now falls within its area of responsibility, and no longer U.S. European Command. The move comes as Israel and its neighbors work to improve diplomatic relations under the Abraham Accords.

Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Aviv Kochavi met with the head of U.S. Central Command, Gen. Kenneth McKenzie on Sept. 1 to discuss regional challenges, an IDF statement said.

“The Chief of the General Staff expressed his appreciation for U.S. commitment to the security of the State of Israel. The Generals expressed their expectation of deepening cooperation between the IDF and CENTCOM,” the statement read.

The CENTCOM change also follows several joint exercises between Israeli F-35 squadrons and American F-35s flying from Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates. These drills, dubbed Enduring Lightning, took place in 2020 and came as Israel finalized the Abraham Accords with the UAE and Bahrain that same year.

And last month, Israeli and U.S. forces held joint naval drills as part of the exercise Noble Waters, with the IDF calling it “the beginning of joint efforts between the Israeli Navy and the U.S. Fifth Fleet, as part of the transitioning of IDF matters to the U.S. Central Command.”

However, CENTCOM could always carry out drills with Israel regardless of whether the country was part of its area of operations and regardless of the location of American warplanes.

Realignment was supported by retired Israeli Brig. Gen. Assaf Orion and retired U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Mark Montgomery, who wrote in a paper for the Washington Institute for Near East Policy in January that despite deep regional cooperation between the two countries, “it became increasingly clear that the threats in question were a mismatch with the existing organizational boundaries.”

“EUCOM was assisting in Israel’s defense, the incoming threats were from CENTCOM’s area — between Iran, Lebanon, and Yemen,” they wrote.

The Jewish Institute for National Security of America also advocated for the move in November, noting that “the recent Abraham Accords between Israel and the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain both reflect and augur a growing strategic alignment between Israel and key American partners in the Middle East, driven primarily by the worsening Iranian nuclear and regional threats. The next crucial step is for the United States to relocate Israel to the area of responsibility (AOR) for American forces in the Middle East, known as U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).”

The Pentagon officially announced the move on Jan. 15, noting that when CENTCOM was set up in 1983, many Mideast countries didn’t recognize Israel. Conflicts, such as the 1991 Gulf War, were made more complex by then-Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein’s targeting of Israel with missiles as well as the chance that Israel might intervene.

The IDF has focused on several new exercises with the U.S. and other allies in the last year, and on expanding existing joint drills such as Blue Flag and Noble Dina to include more countries. This included the Falcon Strike exercise in Italy and the Juniper Falcon 21 drill in February, which fell under EUCOM’s area of responsibility.

There was also one-day Tri-Lightning exercise in June with Israeli, British and American F-35s. It involved active and passive air defense operations, according to the U.S. Air Force. And in July, Israel hosted its first Blue Guardian joint UAV drill with five other countries, including the U.S.

Former NFL Players Plead Guilty to Nationwide Health Care Fraud Scheme

Three former National Football League (NFL) players have pleaded guilty for their roles in a nationwide scheme to defraud a health care benefit program for retired NFL players. A total of 15 defendants have pleaded guilty in connection with this scheme.

Clinton Portis, 40, of Fort Mill, South Carolina, and Tamarick Vanover, 47, of Tallahassee, Florida, pleaded guilty on Friday. Robert McCune, 40, of Riverdale, Georgia, pleaded guilty on August 24. The former players admitted to participating in a scheme to defraud the Gene Upshaw NFL Player Health Reimbursement Account Plan (the Plan). 30 year sentence for man who subjected boys and young men to decades of abuse

A pensioner who sexual assaulted multiple vulnerable victims for more than 40 years has been jailed.

Nigel Clayton, 73 (18.6.48) of Sutton Common Road, Sutton appeared at Croydon Crown Court on Monday, 6 September where he was sentenced to 30 years’ imprisonment for 31 counts of sexual assault, rape and possessing indecent images.

Clayton had been convicted at the same court on Friday, 21 May following a trial.

The offences, which related to seven male victims, spanned decades. They took place between 1976 and 2017. One of the victims was abused by Clayton for more than 30 years.

The abuse took place at various locations in south London, including one incident at a funeral. Clayton also used the office of a car garage he purported to jointly own to carry out his assaults, even setting up a bed inside.

He used a variety of tactics to gain access to his victims, including persuading a number of them to do odd jobs for him in return for a small amount of money. On other occasions he offered gifts, held debts over them, made threats, and, later on, used physical force.

The victims were all boys or young adults when they were abused. In the majority of cases they had no relationship with their biological father, which Clayton used to his advantage.

He also used lies as a way to try and justify his actions; claiming to be a doctor, saying that he knew about child development, or that he had knowledge of modelling.

In 2016, one of the victims bravely contacted police to report the abuse they had been subjected to. An investigation was launched by detectives from the South Area Safeguarding Unit. As a result of enquiries, the remaining seven victims were identified.

Clayton was arrested in February 2020 and was subsequently charged with various offences.

Detective Constable Candice Burley said: “Clayton is a predatory and manipulative individual who specifically targeted victims he knew to be vulnerable; engineering situations which afforded him close contact with them in order to carry out his abuse.

“One victim was under his control for more than 30 years, suffering regular sexual assaults. The long term effect of such prolonged abuse is difficult to comprehend.

“I extend my utmost respect and thanks to all of the victims for their courage in speaking up and ensuring Clayton was brought to justice for his heinous crimes.

“It is of course possible there are further victims out there and I would urge anyone with information to come forward. You will be supported by specially trained officers who, as this conviction shows, are committed to the investigation of sexual offences and ensuring those responsible are held accountable.”

As coronavirus cases spike amidst a third wave of the pandemic in Australia, more and more workers are being told their vaccinations will be made mandatory.

The NSW Police Force is the latest government department to announce vaccines will become compulsory for its employees.

All NSW Police staff must have had their first jab by the end of the month, and their second by the end of November, it said in a statement today.

It follows several similar moves made by the corporate world over recent weeks.

So which companies and government departments have said they will be mandating vaccines?

Some state governments have mandated jabs for healthcare workers and federally, vaccines for aged care workers will become compulsory this month.

But Prime Minister Scott Morrison has said most companies will need to decide themselves about whether to require vaccinations against COVID-19.

Here is a list of the companies who have already announced their vaccination plans:

Telstra

In an email to staff, Telstra chief executive Andy Penn outlined the telecommunications company's plan to introduce mandatory vaccinations for its 8300 frontline staff, with a consultation period with staff and unions beginning this week.

Under Telstra's proposal, staff who have regular contact with customers and colleagues must be vaccinated as a condition of employment.

Mr Penn said Telstra served millions of people in metropolitan and remote areas and had a responsibility to protect them.

Telstra staff would be required to have their first vaccination by October 15 and their second by November 15

Mr Penn said exceptions would be considered only on medical grounds.

Qantas

Qantas has announced it will make coronavirus vaccinations mandatory for staff.

The airline said it will require all employees in the Qantas Group to be vaccinated "as part of the national carrier's commitment to safety".

The Qantas group includes the subsidiaries Jetstar, QantasLink, Sunstate Airlines and Qantas Freight.

Qantas said it is giving frontline staff until November 15 to have the jabs, with other workers given until next March.

Virgin

Another airline following the lead of Qantas is Virgin Australia, who are planning to make coronavirus vaccines mandatory for all staff from November 15.

The deal was first reported by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists and its German media partners in 2020 as part of the Luanda Leaks investigation into the insider deals that made dos Santos Africa’s richest woman. The investigation revealed how dos Santos, a billionaire, moved hundreds of millions of dollars in public money out of one of the world’s poorest countries.

ICIJ’s partners Süddeutsche Zeitung, NDR and WDR found that, in 2015, KfW-Ipex loaned about $55 million to Angola’s state-owned bank Banco de Poupança e Crédito which then loaned the money to Sodiba, dos Santos’ beer company.

The media partners also revealed that dos Santos used the loan to buy the brewery and bottle filling systems from German manufacturer Krones AG. In response to the Luanda Leaks findings, Krones AG then told reporters that it did not previously know dos Santos owned Sodiba. Public records existed for years before the loan that tied the daughter of Angola’s autocratic president, Jose Eduardo dos Santos, to the company.

Political Dynamite: JobKeeper for billionaires a campaign wrecker for Morrison, Frydenberg

Big business doesn’t vote, small business does. That’s the dilemma for Scott Morrison and Josh Frydenberg as they try to keep JobKeeper secret heading into the election. Michael West reports.

There is rising discontent in the Liberal Party’s small business base about the billions splashed on JobKeeper subsidies to large, profitable corporations.

No wonder. It is hardly comforting to know that the world’s richest man, French fashion magnate Bernard Arnault, is a beneficiary of Josh Frydenberg’s largesse. Perhaps Australian taxpayers may be afforded the privilege of adding to Bernard’s collection of Picassos or footing the fuel bill for his newest super-yacht (pictured in Monaco above) Symphony.

The symphony of revelations that large profitable companies, elite schools, posh clubs, and even foreign multinationals such as Bernard’s LVMH group which owns Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior and Moët & Chandon have been gorging on JobKeeper, have just tossed an ugly big spanner in the works for the Coalition election campaign.

The debacle over the vaccine roll-out has rendered an early federal election unlikely. Amid exploding Covid infections in NSW, Morrison’s campaign team is now desperately pushing the narrative “end lockdowns, live with Covid” while demonising Labor state premiers for closed borders but, with every death, time is running out for an early election. Besides, what premier in their right mind would open their borders to NSW right now?

Snapback snapped

Then there is the economy. It all intersects, tactically. The snapback from recession may soon be crushed by the likelihood that Australia will lapse back into recession in the September quarter. The June quarter figures which emerged last week were buoyant, yet they only included a few days of Sydney lockdown at the end of June.

Meanwhile, even the Liberal-biased media is beginning to fracture, such is the rising furore over JobKeeper. Assuming Scott Morrison has up until May next year to go to the polls, it leaves him a small window to drag the economy out of the doldrums following the December quarter figures which emerge in March next year.

Assuming a best case scenario, that asset prices don’t pop and the economy recovers, the JobKeeper conundrum may be the key to the Coalition’s electoral fortunes. If they keep the register a secret, eschewing proper disclosure practices in the US, Europe, New Zealand and elsewhere, the revelations of corporate welfare will continue to eke out; resonating unfairness, profligacy, incompetence on a grand scale.

‘Do I Have To Sue CNN?’: Joe Rogan Accuses Media Giant Of ‘Making Sh*t Up’ Over ‘Horse Dewormer’ Claims

Podcaster Joe Rogan wondered aloud whether he should “sue CNN” for allegedly “making shit up” and claiming the podcaster used “horse dewormer” when he took ivermectin in his recent battle with COVID-19.

“Well, well, well if it isn’t old horse worm Rogan,” comedian and podcaster Tom Segura exclaimed at the start of “The Joe Rogan” podcast in a clip posted on YouTube Tuesday. “I’m glad you’re well.”
