4 prisoners Obama exchanged for Bowe Berghdahl now in senior Taliban posts

Nearly all of those who hold senior positions have close ties to al Qaeda

Four out of five Guantanamo detainees whom former President Barack Obama released in exchange for former U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl in 2014 now hold senior positions in the interim government created by the Taliban in Afghanistan.

According to the Afghan television network TOLOnews, the Taliban-formed government gave leadership positions to Khairullah Khairkhwa, Norullah Noori, Abdul Haq Wasiq, and Mohammad Fazl; all of whom were released in a 2014 deal between the Obama administration and the Taliban to free Bergdahl, whom the Taliban had held as a prisoner since 2009.

On Tuesday, the Taliban announced that Khairkhwa would serve as acting minister for information and culture, Noori would serve as acting minister of borders and tribal affairs, Wasiq would serve as acting director of intelligence, and Fazl would serve as deputy defense minister.

Dem Senate candidate hit with 4 felony charges for allegedly stealing $21,000 from campaign, lying about it

Wisconsin Senate race is one of several key midterm battles for Republicans in 2022

A Democrat running for Senate in Wisconsin has been charged with four felonies for allegedly stealing tens of thousands of dollars from her campaign and then lying about it.

Milwaukee City Councilwoman Chantia Lewis is one of several Democrats running for the Wisconsin Senate seat currently held by Republican Sen. Ron Johnson.

Lewis is alleged to have stolen $21,000 in campaign funds, which the complaint says the council member dropped into her personal bank account and used for personal expenses. She allegedly filed false campaign finance reports related to her campaigns for Milwaukee City Council.

Lewis faces felony charges for misconduct in office over the course of four years from 2016 to 2020, embezzling over $10,000, knowingly filing a false campaign report, and illegally distributing funds from her campaign account.

Three of the felony charges include punishment up to a $10,000 fine and 3 1/2 years in prison. The embezzlement charge carries a possible max fine of $25,000 and up to 10 years in prison.

New FOIA Reveals Fauci Agency Funded Pathogen Enhancement at Wuhan Lab

More than 900 pages of documents released detail U.S.-funded research by EcoHealth Alliance on several types of coronaviruses at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

As reported by The Intercept, the documents describe the work of EcoHealth Alliance, a U.S.-based health organization that used federal funding to conduct research at the Chinese lab. These documents include two previously unpublished grant proposals funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, as well as project updates relating to the research.

The documents were released following ongoing Freedom of Information Act litigation by The Intercept against the National Institute of Health.

“This is a roadmap to the high-risk research that could have led to the current pandemic,” Gary Ruskin, the executive director of U.S. Right to Know, said.

Indeed, one of the grants, titled “Understanding the Risk of Bat Coronavirus Emergence,” details an effort spearheaded by EcoHealth Alliance president Peter Daszak to screen thousands of bat samples for coronavirus. The research also included screening people who work with live animals.

The grant provided EcoHealth Alliance with a whopping $3.1 million, including $599,000 that the Wuhan Institute of Virology used to identify and alter bat coronaviruses likely to infect humans.

The grant proposal even warned of the potential dangers associated with experiments of this kind.

Arizona will divest all state funds from Unilever over Ben & Jerry's plan to stop selling ice cream in 'Occupied Palestinian Territory

Arizona is divesting all state funds from Unilever, the the parent company of ice cream giant Ben & Jerry's which previously announced plans to yank its products from so-called "Occupied Palestinian Territory."

"We believe it is inconsistent with our values for Ben & Jerry's ice cream to be sold in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT)," the ice cream business said in a July statement. "We have a longstanding partnership with our licensee, who manufactures Ben & Jerry's ice cream in Israel and distributes it in the region. We have been working to change this, and so we have informed our licensee that we will not renew the license agreement when it expires at the end of next year," the company noted. "Although Ben & Jerry's will no longer be sold in the OPT, we will stay in Israel through a different arrangement. We will share an update on this as soon as we're ready."

Unilever released a statement in which it explained that, "Ben & Jerry's was acquired by Unilever in 2000. As part of the acquisition agreement, we have always recognised the right of the brand and its independent Board to take decisions about its social mission."

Arizona Treasurer Kimberly Yee, a Republican who is running in the state's GOP gubernatorial primary, said that the ice cream company's decision runs afoul of state law.

"Arizona law states that a public entity or public fund may not enter a contract or directly invest moneys with a person or company that is engaged in boycotting Israel," Yee noted in a letter last week to Richard Williams of Unilever Investor Relations. "On August 3, 2021, our office wrote to Unilever PLC, informing your firm that it has been identified as actively boycotting Israel due to the actions of Ben & Jerry's, a subsidiary of Unilever, announcing that it will withdraw sales from the West Bank and other territories in Israel at the end of 2022."

This is insane ..they crossed the line ..A Bridge to Far

‘Harmful Language Alert’: National Archives puts WARNING LABEL on US Constitution and Declaration of Independence

Visitors to the National Archives website looking for the US founding documents are now greeted with labels warning of ‘harmful language.’ It isn’t clear when the tags were added, but the move has angered some Republicans.

“Harmful Language Alert” labels can be found on pages displaying the scanned versions of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, as well as the first ten amendments, known as the Bill of Rights.

The addition has caught the eye of Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (R-Colorado), who pointed it out on Tuesday.

The National Archives have now put a disclaimer on their website that our historical documents may include Harmful Content. They even slapped this warning on the Constitution. We tried to tell you the Left wanted to get rid of it! pic.twitter.com/UeJtqgudMm

— Lauren Boebert (@laurenboebert) September 7, 2021

She wasn’t the only one. Ken Cuccinelli, former deputy Homeland Security secretary in the Trump administration, caught the labeling of the Constitution on Monday – a public holiday in the US.

“What are we becoming?” Cuccinelli asked in a tweet. “Are you kidding me?”

What are we becoming? Now the National Archives posts a "Harmful Language Alert" on its website when you pull up the U.S. Constitution?!Are you kidding me?#Constitutionpic.twitter.com/GOLukUBUts

— Ken Cuccinelli (@KenCuccinelli) September 6, 2021

It was no joke, however. The link on the label leads to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) statement on “potentially harmful content,” defined as reflecting “racist, sexist, ableist, misogynistic/misogynoir, and xenophobic opinions and attitudes” or being “discriminatory towards or exclude diverse views on sexuality, gender, religion, and more,” among other criteria.

The archivists are told to inform the users about the presence and origin of such “harmful content,” update descriptions with “more respectful terms” and make “an institutional commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.”

It was unclear when the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights were labeled as potentially harmful. Back in July, during its traditional reading of the Declaration on the anniversary of its adoption – July 4, 1776 – the National Public Radio added a disclaimer for the very first time, saying that “the words in the document land differently” after “last summer’s protests and our national reckoning on race.”
