Absolutely not true, anon. He cares very much. Spiritually, their are no levels of sin. Sin is sin. Physically, the ramifications differ on what type of sin. Disrespecting your mother and murdering someone are both spiritually sin, but the physical sum of those actions is completely different.
That said, being gay is no diff than any other sexual sin, which is any sexual activity outside of a marriage between one man and one woman. God views them all the same category.
