Resign or be fired: Sean Spicer & Kellyanne Conway among 11 Trump appointees Biden is PURGING from military academy boards

The Biden administration has told 11 Trump administration officials – including Sean Spicer, Kellyanne Conway, H.R. McMaster and Douglas Macgregor – to resign or be fired from advisory boards of US military academies.

Before leaving the White House, President Donald Trump had appointed a number of his administration officials to advisory boards at the US Military Academy at West Point, the Naval Academy in Annapolis and the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. The current White House personnel office has just sent 11 of them a letter, telling them to resign or be “terminated” as of Wednesday evening.

Sean Spicer, former White House press secretary and another member of the Naval Academy Board of Visitors, (NABV), also shared his letter and said he would be responding on his TV show, scheduled for the 6 pm deadline on Wednesday.

Russell Vought, who headed the Office of Management and Budget under Trump, shared a screenshot of his letter on Twitter and refused to resign from the NABV, saying he was appointed to a three-year term.

Yellen: US Will Be Out Of Money In October If Congress Doesn’t Raise Debt Ceiling

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen warned congressional leaders Wednesday that the U.S. is on track to default on its debt sometime in October if Congress fails to raise the debt ceiling.

Yellen said the Treasury would likely run out of cash in the coming weeks and exhaust its “extraordinary” spending measures to keep the country within its legal borrowing limit.

“Once all available measures and cash on hand are fully exhausted, the United States of America would be unable to meet its obligations for the first time in our history,” Yellen wrote in a letter to Democratic and Republican leadership and the chairs and ranking members of several top committees.

Merkel confidant dies days after becoming China ambassador

Jan Hecker, a close confidant of Chancellor Angela Merkel, has died only days after assuming his role in Beijing as German ambassador to China.

“I mourn for a highly regarded long-time adviser, with a deep humanity and extraordinary competence,” Merkel said in an emailed statement Monday in Berlin. “Jan Hecker’s death deeply shocks me,” she added. “I think of our work together with great gratitude and am happy to have been so closely associated with him for years.”

The 54-year-old diplomat belonged to a small circle of Merkel’s close advisers, having gained her trust during the refugee crisis of 2015. Two years later, he became her top foreign policy adviser and was present at her meeting with U.S. President Joe Biden at the Group of Seven summit in Cornwall in June.

Report: China discussing takeover of major US military base abandoned in Afghanistan

China is reportedly weighing plans to take over Bagram Airfield, which once served as the largest U.S. military base in Afghanistan, new reports revealed this week.

The Chinese military is currently conducting a feasibility study for a potential takeover of the major airfield, according to a source briefed on the plans by Chinese military officials who then spoke to U.S. News & World Report on condition of anonymity.

Sources familiar with the alleged Chinese military discussions also told India’s Daily Pioneer that Chinese officials held a meeting with top Taliban leaders to discuss the possible takeover of Bagram Airfield.

Nicholas Chaillan, the U.S. Air Force’s first-ever Chief Software Officer (CSO) publicly quit his job last week after criticizing the service’s reliance on unqualified officers which he said is setting up its IT infrastructure to fail. Politico reports White House staffers cannot bear to watch the president speak because they are “filled with anxiety.”

During a speech in New York on Tuesday, Biden made three different errors — calling New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand “Kristen,” vowing to make electricity production carbon neutral by “2020,” and spoke about wildfires spreading “wisely” across the country.

Earlier Tuesday, Biden spoke about tornados in New Jersey, telling those present that “they don’t call them that anymore.”

Amazon Looks To Eliminate Cashiers At Whole Foods Stores

Technocrats at Amazon continue to push cashier-less stores, first with Amazon-Go and now with its subsidiary, Whole Foods. Cashiers do not make up the largest portion of grocery employees, but they will eventually be missing from many stores as this trend continues, and the use of cash will diminish, forcing people to pay with smart phone apps. ⁃ TN Editor

There will be something missing at two Whole Foods stores opening next year: the rows of cashiers.

Amazon, which owns the grocery chain, said Wednesday that it will bring its cashier-less technology to two Whole Foods stores for the first time, letting shoppers grab what they need and leave without having to open their wallets. Cameras and sensors track what’s taken off shelves. Items are charged to an Amazon account after customers leave the store with them.

But there will be an option for those who want to shop the old-fashioned way: Self-checkout lanes will be available that take cash, gift cards and other types of payment.

Amazon first unveiled the cashier-less technology in 2018 at an Amazon Go convenience store and has expanded it to larger Amazon supermarkets. But it will be the first time it has appeared at Whole Foods, a chain of more than 500 grocery stores Amazon bought four years ago.

One of the new stores will be in Washington, D.C.; the other in Sherman Oaks, California. They will be stocked with the typical Whole Foods fare, including seafood, fresh-squeezed orange juice and organic vegetables.

Prince Andrew has reportedly avoided “multiple attempts” to serve him legal papers on behalf of his sex-assault accuser — and has bolted 500 miles to the safety of mom Queen Elizabeth II’s Scottish getaway, just days before the first hearing.

Lawyers for Virginia Roberts Giuffre — who is suing Andrew in New York — had already conceded that it would be “difficult” to serve the 61-year-old royal in person.

The scandal-scarred royal has since been a recluse at his home in the Royal Lodge in Windsor — where security guards have turned away lawyers trying to serve the US court papers, according to the Sun.

After avoiding “multiple attempts” in the past two weeks, Andrew on Tuesday bolted for an even safer location — his mother the monarch’s Scottish estate, Balmoral, the paper noted.
