Yo planefags

I normally check on air traffic in my area for purposes of monitoring wildfire activity. So I usually check it at least once a day all summer long.

I have been seeing something this summer that I have never seen before, lots of flying gascans. I usually see them north bound out of Fairfield. I don't have the time to watch them and see where they go but I have spotted a few southbound and started looking to see where they came from. For example I saw one earlier this year that flew up and did laps next to the Medford, OR (I think it was medford) airport for a while. This morning I spotted another tagged as PROVO32. What was curious about it was that it turned south and then followed a flightpath for a ways that is similar to what I often see trans-pacfic airliners on. Kind of made me think it met up with something that wasn't showing up and refueled it after it crossed the pacific.

Like I said, just odd, never saw them before this summer. They are always shown as out of Fairfield (seems to me there is an old NASA base somewhere thereabouts). I am north of the SF bay area so I would only see ones that head north.

Any whooo thought I would mention it as I haven't seen you all mention them. VIPs may not show up, but the logistics planes…
