Anon doubted that New York State kept the Medicaid dollars on those killed in Nursing homes, hospitals, etc.So I'm providing proof that Cuomo had a financial reason to dispense with them. Medicaid dollars are probably reset annually (can't find the data), but Medicaid dollars increases every year in all states. It has been said that up to 30,000 elderly died in NY during 2020. See the total figures below that NY saved on dispensing Medicaid dollars.(Note these figures are only what the Federal Government, not the money that NY has to chip in).

III . ACTUARIAL ANALYSIS
A. FISCAL YEAR 2017 MEDICAID OUTLAYS AND ENROLLMENT
The Federal government and the States collectively spent an estimated $605.1 billion for Medicaid in 2017.Of this amount, the Federal government paid $374.7 billion, representing about 62 percent of net program outlays, and the States paid an estimated $230.4 billion, or about 38 percent of net outlays. Table 1 summarizes total Medicaid outlays for 2017.
