North Hollywood: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Division are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the suspect or suspects responsible for the Hit and Run traffic collision that severely injured a man.
On Saturday July 3, 2021, at 7:15 a.m., a male pedestrian was crossing westbound in the marked crosswalk at Laurel Canyon Blvd and Magnolia Blvd when he was struck by a dark colored Tesla Model 3 while conducting a left turn northbound Laurel Canyon Boulevard from eastbound Magnolia Boulevard.
As a result of the collision, the male pedestrian was seriously injured. The hit and run driver failed to stop and render aid as required by law.
Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.
On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $25,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender's identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Valley Traffic Officer Garibay, at 213-677-8157 or 818-644-8026. Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Newton Area detectives are seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect in a violent attack.
On Tuesday, May 18, 2021, around 12:02 a.m., an assault with a deadly weapon occurred near the intersection of 25th Street and San Pedro Street. The victim, a homeless female, was asleep on the sidewalk when the suspect approached her. The suspect stabbed the victim in the head with a steel kitchen knife then fled the location. A passerby contacted police.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to a local area hospital in critical condition.
The suspect is described as a Black or Hispanic male, medium complexion, approximately 30 to 40-years-old. He stands 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs approximately 185 pounds. He was wearing a face mask, a black long sleeve hooded sweatshirt, dark blue pants, black shoes, and one glove on his right hand.

Los Angeles: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department's 77th Area are seeking the public's help in identifying an attempt kidnapping suspect.
On October 18, 2020, around 6:00 p.m., the victim went to a local restaurant on the 100 block of West Manchester Avenue. The suspect walked up to victim as she was walking to her car and demanded that victim hand over victim’s young brother. Suspect tried to grab the 1-year-old brother and claimed he was her child. Victims walked to their vehicle and the suspect followed them. Suspect once again tried to take the child from victim’s hands. The victim asked for help and ran back into the restaurant.
The same suspect then made her way to the 8000 block of South Main Street and entered a gated apartment courtyard. Several children were playing in the courtyard and suspect grabbed a 5-year-old child and tried to leave the area with him. Family members observed the suspect trying to carry out the child and stopped suspect from taking him.
The suspect has been described as a Hispanic female between 20 to 35-years-old, standing approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing around 135 pounds with short cropped brown hair. She was wearing a white shirt, light green shorts, and dark slippers.
Residents in the area should consider the following:
· Always be alert to your surroundings and the people around you.
· Try to stay in well-lit areas.
· If you feel you’re being followed, walk to a well-populated area.
· Report the crime to the police. Try to describe the attacker accurately.
· Your actions can help prevent others from becoming victims.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact 77th Division, Crimes Against Person Detectives, Detective Preciado at 323-786-5412. During non-business hours or on the weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (877-527-3247). The LA Times headline, “Larry Elder cuts short Venice homeless encampment tour after hostile reception,” did not sit right with some on social media.
The outlet was reporting on California’s Republican gubernatorial candidate Larry Elder, who was surrounded by a group of activists as he was touring a homeless encampment in Venice Beach.
Elder, who is Black, was attacked by a white woman wearing a gorilla mask who threw an egg at the Republican frontrunner, and it was all captured on video.
Social media users took issue with the LA Times report, and the outlet as a whole for not reporting the attack as “racist” because Elder is a Republican.
“I wonder what your headline would be if an activist wearing a gorilla mask threw an egg at a African American DEMOCRATIC canidate for Governor,” Andrew Follett tweeted in response to the report. “You probably wouldn’t blame the victim in that case.”
‘You’re leaving out key details, aren’t you?” one user wrote.
‘You forgot to mention the part where a white woman with a gorilla mask attacks Larry Elder, who’s black,” another user tweeted.
Some users blasted the outlet for drumming up racial hatred against the GOP candidate, claiming the outlet was responsible for the attack for publishing a column referring to Elder as the “Black face of White supremacy.”
“Newspaper that called @larryelder the “black face on white supremacy” defends white chick wearing an ape face throwing objects at a black gubernatorial candidate,” Buzz Patterson tweeted. “Because he’s conservative and a threat to the CA Dem elite.”
