Russia: Putin and Lukashenko announce agreement on 28 joint Union State programmes
Russian and Belarusian presidents Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko met for talks at the Kremlin on Thursday, where they agreed on all 28 Union State programmes on the agenda.
Many of these programmes are aimed at harmonising the two countries' tax and customs legislation of the countries, said Putin.
"In particular, the signing of an agreement on common principles of indirect taxation, the introduction of an integrated system of indirect tax administration within the Union State is envisaged. The goal is to see the structure of the price of the goods," he said.
The talks also touched upon the formation of the common defence space between Russia and Belarus and the provision of security.
Putin referred to the upcoming joint Russian-Belarusian exercise Zapad-2021.
"These exercises are not directed against anybody. But they are logical at a time when other alliances, NATO, for example, is actively building up its military presence near the borders of the Union State and the CSTO space," he noted.
