Agree with mastery learning. Missing now. Kids with, say, 60% mastery of a particular subject move on with the rest on the class to the next grade, expected to learn advanced material with a 60% knowledge of the prerequisites.

Thing about a one room schoolhouse with no grades is there's no staying back. you know stuff or you don't, which is real life, anyway. Different people are better at different things, and there are people who are very, very good at some or many things.

This should have been a polio shot redux. Parents wanted the kids to have the shot, and it was done in the schools, IIRC. No question in people's minds at that time that polio was dreaded and that the vaccine was a godsend.

This is on Fauci. Fauci blew up any residual confidence Americans may have had in government sponsored and supported medical research.

First reasonable step on the way to restoring confidence would be to fire Fauci and then apologize to the American people for the situation his behavior has caused.. No doubt remaining at this point, for me anyway, that Fauci's a snake. No downside to firing him, in an honest world.
