US Appeals Court Rules to Reinstate Mask Mandate Ban in Florida Schools

Earlier in August, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis issued an executive order blocking the implementation of mask mandates in the Sunshine State, particularly in schools.

The US Appeals Court ruled in favour of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, allowing his administration to reinstate the mask mandate ban in the state and continue punishing officials who require masks anyway.

"We grant the appellants’ motion, quash the trial court’s order vacating the automatic stay, and reinstate the stay required by Florida Rule of Appelate Procedure 9.310(b)(2)..", the ruling said, siding with the Florida governor.

The decision of the Appeals Court has re-imposed a stay on Judge John C. Cooper's order that halted DeSantis' ban, while the case is set to continue its circulation through the courts.

The legal battle around DeSantis' mask mandate ban has continued since late August, with a Florida judge ruling that the Governor overstepped his authority with the executive order prohibiting mandatory face masks in public places, and some parents arguing that the ban potentially puts the health of their children at risk when it comes to masking at school.

According to the Miami Herald, thirteen of Florida’s 67 school districts have so far required mandatory face masks in defiance of DeSantis' order. The state responded by withholding school board members' salaries, but these fines are likely to be covered by federal money, since Joe Biden's Department of Education announced grants to support schools that defy the Florida order. The grant program has been dubbed Project SAFE (Supporting America's Families and Educators), and it is set to be funded under Title IV of the Every Student Succeeds Act.

Following the mask mandate that was introduced earlier in the year, the Biden administration rolled out a vaccination mandate on Thursday, requiring most federal employees to get inoculated with a COVID-19 vaccine and scrapping the alternative of regular testing.

MSNBC Guest Calls for Drone Strikes on Americans Opposed to Vaccine Mandates

Frank Schaeffer, a recent guest on MSNBC, deemed those who are opposed to coronavirus vaccines or vaccine mandates “bioterrorists,” and suggested they should be “treated as such.”

“Anti-vaccine and anti-mask anti-science conspiracy theory-spreading leading activists are bio terrorists. Period,” the author of Why I Am an Atheist Who Believes in God said.

Notably, Schaffer called pro-lifers the “American Taliban” during an appearance on MSNBC’s The ReidOut last week to discuss the pro-life Texas abortion law.

“We have a situation in Texas right now tonight where the American Taliban, because that’s what it is — there’s not an American evangelical right-wing movement — there is an American Taliban — is weirdly similar in so many ways to the Middle Eastern Islamist terrorists,” he asserted.

“There is a new American Taliban, and their goal is theocracy, which means to take our religious beliefs, which for them are Old Testament law, not Christianity, and force secular Americans, non-evangelical Americans, progressive Americans, women, people of color into that box,” he continued, explaining it was “not hyperbole.”

“This is happening right now tonight in Texas. This is happening right now with the people dying of COVID, children dying of COVID, because pro-lifers have seen fit to stand against Joe Biden`s vaccine as a way to own the libs,” he continued, once again calling those individuals “literally bioterrorists.”

His recent remark, floating drone strikes against “bioterrorists,” follows President Biden’s divisive coronavirus speech on Thursday, in which he announced sweeping vaccine mandates and raged against unvaccinated Americans, placing the blame squarely on them.

“This is not about freedom or personal choice,” he said. “It’s about protecting yourself and those around you — the people you work with, the people you care about, the people you love.”

“We’ve been patient, but our patience is wearing thin,” Biden said to the unvaccinated. “And your refusal has cost all of us.”

Notably, daily coronavirus cases were up over 300 percent from Labor Day 2020, despite months of Biden at the helm and widespread vaccine ability across the nation.

Wisconsin Office of Special Counsel tells state election commission to prevent evidence destruction

Wisconsin attorney send letter amid concerns that updates to election machines could corrupt or destroy critical 2020 election evidence.

Special Counsel and former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Mike Gableman is attempting to prevent the potential destruction of evidence pertaining to the 2020 presidential election in the state.

Gableman reminded the Wisconsin Election Commission via letter of its duty to prevent the tampering and destruction of evidence.

"I hereby request that you and your office preserve any and all records and evidence […] including but not limited to information retained on any and all voting machine," including "metadata, router information, and/or access logs," he wrote.

The Wisconsin attorney took it upon himself to send the letter as concerns mount that updates to election machines could corrupt or destroy critical evidence and information relating to the ways in which the 2020 election was conducted in the state. Gableman notes that such tampering would interfere with the Office of Special Counsel's investigation.

"Please forward to this office any information relating to any and all intentional or unintentional destruction of records between the November 3, 2020 election and the date of this notice, including otherwise routine software updates to election systems that might have in the past or will in the future corrupt or erase and/or otherwise compromise relevant records, or which might obstruct examination and investigation," he wrote.

The letter, addressed to commission Chairperson Meagan Wolfe, was sent one day after the announcing of the establishment of the Office of Special Counsel.

The announcement indicated that Gableman and his colleagues have already begun conducting witness interviews, retaining experts and preparing relevant case documents.

"Wisconsin elections must be transparent, inclusive, and accountable – and the WEC's cooperation in preserving evidence is necessary for that goal to be met," Gableman said.
