Similar experience here, anon. Was paddled for lack of homework, which was the only form of resistance anon had. Solitary confinement and other tortures made anon hate school. Tested for the school for the gifted and would have been accepted, but anon's folks were too poor to pay the tuition, so anon had to stay in public school until graduation. There were no offers to test out and skip. Luckily, a few great teachers in jr high got anon to do work again and anon dropped his grudge.
