i posted this before but i will again. nothing profound but just an insight into gates.

in the early '90's i had dinner in a restaurant sitting at a two seater table with another two seatter next to us where i was facing the other table and gates was sitting at that two seater looking at me. i don't remember if he was married yet, but he was with melissa. my dinner companion could hear them and i could see them. apparently the only thing they talked about was work. for my part, the only thing this man did the whole time (except when eating was ROCK BACK AND FORTH. with his hands clutched hanging between his legs, he rocked back and forth. in a psych class in college i remember watching a video of monkeys rocking nonstop and the prof said these monkey had not had any maternal affection from birth and this was a typical behavior....even in humans. i will always remember that sight and how utterly weird it was
