Associated Press account deletes 9/11 Nickelback tweet it admits was 'in poor taste'

The Associated Press Planner Twitter account deleted a tweet identifying September 11 as the anniversary of a Nickelback album, admitting it was in "poor taste."

On September 10, the account, which monitors upcoming significant events, sent out a tweet regarding September 11, 2021 as the 20th anniversary of the Canadian metal band Nickelback's third album.

"Tomorrow: 20th anniversary of Nickelback releasing album ‘Silver Side Up’ (11 Sep)," the AP Planner tweeted.

September 11, 2021 more notably marked 20 years after the 9/11 terrorist attacks which claimed the lives of nearly 3,000 people.

Hours after posting the original tweet, the AP Planner deleted the tweet and apologized, claiming the post was made "in poor taste."

"A tweet sent on the @AP_Planner account about Saturday, Sept. 11, being the anniversary of a Nickelback album was deleted. The tweet was in poor taste," the tweet read.

Caroline County Circuit Judge Jonathan Newell was pronounced dead at 6:43 a.m. Friday morning, the U.S. attorney’s office in Maryland said in a statement.

When FBI agents went to Newell’s home to arrest him, they found him “suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound,” the statement said.

PROVIDENCE — A former faculty member at the U.S. Naval War College in Newport was sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court to life in prison after confessing in the course of a child pornography investigation that he had sexually abused his minor child.

Ronald W. Zenga, a retired Navy pilot, was arrested in 2018 after federal law enforcement officers raided his Middletown home and found child pornography on his computer. The raid followed a tip from an undercover officer in the United Kingdom who had been communicating with Zenga on a Russian file-sharing site.

Kenneth Petty Pleads Guilty To Federal Charges For Failing To Register As A Sex Offender In California

Nicki Minaj’s husband Kenneth Petty has pled guilty to charges regarding his failure to register as a sex offender once he moved to California. Petty, 43,changed his plea from not guilty to guilty in the U.S. District Court in Central District of California on September 9, Billboard reported.

In New York, Petty was a level two sex offender due to being convicted of attempted rape in 1994. When he was pulled over in Beverly Hills, California, police discovered he never registered as a sex offender in California and that he didn’t notify New York authorities that he has moved.

On the same day Petty entered his guilty plea, Minaj pulled out of performing at the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards. When a fan asked if she would be hitting the stage this year she said she has to cancel.

Hip-hop pioneer Afrika Bambaataa abused, sex trafficked 12-year-old, lawsuit alleges

Afrika Bambaataa, a legendary hip-hop pioneer, has been sued by a man who claims he was sexually abused and prostituted by him as a minor.

The victim, who has remained anonymous, filed the lawsuit last month in New York asserting that Bambaataa started sexually abusing him at the age of 12 from 1991 to 1995. He claims that the musician would take him to different locations where other adult men also abused him.

Bambaataa, whose real name is Lance Taylor, would have been33or 34 during the time of the assaults.

Shelter in place in effect due to explosion in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (KRON) — A shelter in place is in effect Saturday afternoon after an explosion went off in San Francisco, authorities said.

Around 2:45 p.m., San Francisco police say an explosion went off on the 100 block of Lobos Street. Officials said the explosion was possibly related to fireworks.

Two people were injured.

A shelter in place is now in effect. Video from the Citizen App shows residents evacuating the area.

No other details were immediately available.

Authorities in Tennessee spent hours searching for the source of what residents reported as a "loud explosion" and shaking ground.

In a Facebook post, the Clarksville Police Department wrote on Sunday that its 911 dispatch had received numerous calls at around 9:50 p.m. local time on Saturday regarding the "loud explosion" and that several individuals had also said they had felt the "ground shake."
