CHICAGO: "The family of an Alabama man who died of heart issues more than 200 miles from his home is asking people to get vaccinated against the coronavirus after more than 40 hospitals across three states were unable to accept him due to full cardiac ICUs. Ray Martin DeMonia died Sept. 1; three days before his 74th birthday, his family said. DeMonia suffered a heart attack and was transferred to the nearest available bed, which was more than 200 miles away at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi. In his obituary, his family urged people to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

“In honor of Ray, please get vaccinated if you have not, in an effort to free up resources for non-COVID-related emergencies,” the obituary read."

"North Korea's newspaper says the country has successfully launched a new type of long-range cruise missile. The ruling Workers' Party newspaper Rodong Sinmun says the new missiles, developed by the Academy of Defense Science, were test-fired on Saturday and Sunday. It says the projectiles were airborne for more than two hours, and hit their targets.

Senior government officials of Japan, the United States, and South Korea, in charge of North Korean issues, are scheduled to meet in Tokyo later this week to discuss the North's denuclearization."

>Insurrection Act…requiring that the President appoint a President and Vice President to act while he steps down from the position.

There is no such requirement. Bush used it in 1992 for the Los Angeles riots.

>could a special provision apply in the case of IA being used against gov't agencies?

If so, it's not in the act itself. I guess that could be buried in some guidelines somewhere, but it looks like there are no special restrictions when using the act in order to, for example, arrest numerous governors, high-level officials, or take control of a rogue agency.
